Florida or Kentucky?

Agreed, Amelia is still laid back, but just down A1A or I-95 is Jacksonville and it's a zoo.
I agree. And it generally gets worse with every larger city you encounter as you go further south. Granted, they are no worse than most big cities, but I'm not interested in living in ANY of those human anthills (but I'm beyond THRILLED that so many people in this country are content to live in there). :)

I often say, and this is not derogatory but just my opinion from having traveled all over the state, that the best place to live in FL is as near to out of FL as you can get. :)

Kentucky has an individual income tax. Florida doesn't.

For most folks that makes up for the Sunshine State's lack of Open Carry. :scrutiny:
When we get OC, there will be no more argument. ;) Just kidding, Bluegrasser"s. :uhoh:

Beautiful Kentucky.

Just for the record, I think Nashville and Memphis in my own state are zoo's also.

If by zoo you mean full of animals, I think Memphis is much more qualified for that title than Nashville. :)

I've traveled the U.S. and spent time in a TON of cities and a decent bit of the countryside for the past 25 years. IMO, Nashville is about as good as it gets for a city of approximately 1MM people in the metro area. I still wouldn't want to live in the (any) metro area if I had a choice, but you can do much, much worse than Nashville if you gotta live in a city. Memphis would be way down on my list. Full disclosure, I lived about half way between Memphis and Nashville for many years way back in the day.

I'd rather avoid them all, though. :)

Kentucky for sure, and not based on how gun friendly. Both states are very good in that regard.

The reason is scenic beauty. Kentucky has it and Florida pretty much doesn't, at least for me. Florida is all palm trees and beautiful beaches and....flat. Flattest state in the union. Sea level to about 380 Ft above that....that's it!

Don't care much for Hurricanes either. Can't remember the last time a Tornado ripped up Kentucky; just not in the right geographic location for those.

Please don't think I am slamming your state, Floridians! It is ten times better than mine for a nice place to live. And you have better football teams.

I hope the moderator won't delete this post, because it is about weather and scenery differences instead of guns. Both states are so gun friendly that things like scenery and weather are about all we have left to contrast.

Lived outside Orlando the first 32yrs of my life and wouldn't move back to Florida for any amount of money. I never adjusted to the heat and there is NO change of seasons, which is one of the things I love most about being 750miles north (but further "South"). Fall is in the air in the rolling hills of Tennessee and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
