What a fantastic thread; Panzermk2, asknight and dml5 should have their own website (maybe even a reality show). The debate reminds me of the .308 versus 5.56 debates I've seen.
I'm not a PS90 owner, but have been looking into reduced recoil loads for my Colt AR-15. This thread is one of the most informative about loading .224 rounds that I've found. I would imagine the bullet weight/velocity figures for the PS90 40 grain rounds would apply to my rifle. I do have an adjustible gas system, so I would likely be able to get reliable cycling.
Question - for self defense, is there an optimal velocity/fragmentation/
pentration threshold for 40 grain ballistic tip and/or hollow tips?
expertise here. I have recently sold off my 10mm's, 45's, 44's, 357's and am getting ready to unload 40's and 9's.
The real experts here are obvious, not the puffed "truth" slinging variety. Thank you very much for the "Facts" it is greatly appreciated.
My experience with the Fifty Seven is I can dump 20 rounds in rapid succession at 25 yards between the average persons ears... I cannot do this with a 9mm, or 40.
At 50-65 yards, I am amazed at what this thing can do.
I can tell you first hand it will stop more than a few 220lb boars dead in their tracks.
