I have a quick question regarding the FN PS90 carbine. It's a neat little gopher getter, I think.

Anyway, it ships with 30 round magazines. But factory 50 round magazines for the P90 submachine gun can be had. Will the PS90 carbine accept these, or does it take a different, lower capacity magazine?

(I have no idea why FN ships it with thirty round magazines. You're over ten rounds, you're "high capacity" anyway, so who cares?)

I checked one of these out at my local shop this week. Very interesting piece. I also don't get the 30rnd vs. 50rnd magazine thing. Why not just ship the weapon with a 50rnd magazine?

U can even buy a part online that you swop out in the 30 rd mag, and make it a 50 round mag.

Handled one the other day...it's heavier than it looks, and the 16" barrel appears shorter than I thought it would. Handy little package, lots of ammo on the gun, nice optical sight with backup irons. I'd love to own one, just for giggles, but my play fund is not that stacked right now.

I hear that 5.7x28 out of a Five-seveN (with several hundred fewer ft/s V0) is good for coyote, out to reasonable pistol distances.

It'd sure be a lot of fun to stick a scope on a PS90 and go varminting.

Coyotes are becoming a problem here in East Tennessee, so I think you just gave me a reason to get one.

Yeah, it's a lame excuse and I've got plenty of other anti-varmint implements, but it's still a reason I can work with!!! I mean, I should have this to protect the kids of the neighborhood, all of whom are vulnerable to being picked off by coyotes. I need to buy the PS90 for the children!

If ammo was cheap or they had it in .22 lr. That thing would be HIGH on "buy" list. however, untill then, just another wish item

I would love to have one of these...........in another caliber. First I don't like firearms that use a relatively hard to come by, expensive round. Second I firmly believe the 5.7 round will end up on somebody's ban list. Not just the AP but the whole family of rounds.

Cool factor is off the scale though.

Why cant we get it in like, .22 mag, or 9mm, .380. Even .25acp but no we get this retarded super exotic round designed specifically to defeat body armor.

retarded super exotic round designed specifically to defeat body armor.

The 5.7x28 is very high velocity- that is far away from retarded.

It is not designed specifically for defeating body armor. In fact, none of the civilian ammo has said capability. Antyways, most centerfire rifle rounds have AP capability, so that really is not an issue. The 5.7 is not all that exotic- just new. There are several firms that sell loaded ammo, at least one maker of loading gear, and loading supplies are available to. The issue that the fodder is costly.

$350 per 1000 isn't THAT expensive. I kinda like the round, it's like a miniture version of a .223 cartridge.

The 5.7s are superior to most common pistol rounds right? Its not less useless than a pistol caliber carbine. They only thing those have on the PS90 is the cheap ammo. Wolf is going to be making 5.7 so dont worry.

Don't know about anyone else, but I was very unimpressed witht he PS90 for a $1700 plinker. The construction was somewhat shoddy, IMO-especially the roughly cast reciever. The gun just felt clunky-like one that I would pay maybe $300 or $400 for; certainly not 2 grand. Besides, there are plenty of .223 caliber firearms in that size/weight arena for a lot less money.

If you don't have one, you may want to wait, or jump on it right away depending on how you look at it. It has recently come to light that the gun has dual sears, and with a ziptie it can be safely converted to run select fire. There is probably going to be a major design change and the ATF will probably rule the current ones as machineguns.

So what happens if ATF does declare them as machineguns? As in, what happens to the ones that are already in private hands?

PvtPyle, care to give a source for your "zip tie" full auto converson. My information is that the trigger/hammer/bolt were totally redesigned to meet BATF approval.

One of our customers got one from Impact and they have shown a few of the dealers in town. He was going to make a video of it, I recommended that he did not since he was not an SOT. But in looking at it, it is not hard to do, dangerous, or any leap to figure out how it was done. When/if we ever get ours, you can bet I am going to do it and register it as a post 86 sample.

Remember, any semi auto can be converted, some you have to add parts, some you have to modify them. But they all can be done.

Fired one of these today. It was equipped with an Eotech. Once we sighted it in, it was pretty accurate.

No recoil to speak of, kinda like a .22 on steroids.

This one had the 50 rd mags. No malfunctions at all. The ejection port in the butt was kinda cool too, all the brass goes straight down. I might have to get one, the 5.7 pistol didn't do anything for me, I'll stick to my Glocks and 1911's, but this was a pretty handy little carbine. It balanced well, was simple and easy to shoot and accurate too.

I 've seen them at the local shows for around $1500, with ammo at $20 a box. That's more or less what I have into my Reminton PSS with the roughly the same for ammo, altho it's a 50rd box of 5.7. Granted, not the same range capability but still fun!

Now what do I have that I can trade...
