What gun?

What ammo? Why that choice?

My gun: P238
Ammo: Buffalo Bore 90 grain +P, because of the higher velocity

My 380 ACP serves primarily as a backup and not a primary.

Bersa 380 CC nickle with Aquila 90 gr jhp.
Sunday go to meeting gun and dress up pocket carry when I cant tote a CZ or 1911 and a 357 snub.

At bad breath distance - 7 to 10 yds scary accurate.

I carry an LCP quite a bit.
For a time I kept a 102 gr. Remington Golden Saber chambered followed by six of the WWB 95 grain flat nose(truncated) fmj's in the magazine.
I have recently shot two boxes of Hornady Critical Defense in it without any problems and now have it fully loaded with these.
What you will find in these 380 threads are an endless array of only fmj for maximum penetration vs hollow points because they sometimes expand and if they dont then they get the same penetration of the fmj.
Or some such.

When I carried a .380, it was a Bersa Thunder, which I still own, and keep loaded. It's rare that I carry it now, but it is a great gun. When it roamed the street, it was loaded with Remington-UMC 95-grain FNEBs (basically, a flat-tipped solid round with a partial jacket.) Now, it's loaded with the more readily-available 88-grain JHP by the same maker. If it ever does get fired in defense of life, it will likely be in my home, though it is not my primary HD weapon (it's usually locked in the "hot" safe.)

Sig P238, currently with 95gr. PDX1s. Considering a switch to FMJ for the increased penetration.

It's my deep concealment/backup gun and it shares that duty with my S&W 442, otherwise I'm packing a 9mm or .45.

I use the Winchester PDX1 right now, but also have Corbon DPX.

P238 or TCP both with Winchester fmj truncated bullet.

Since this round consistently penetrates 16" to 18" of ballistic gelatin I see no point in paying more for a little more velocity.

I used to carry a BDA before I came upon a Makarov in 9mm russki chambering.
I load a hot handloaded hp (hornady IIRC) in the chamber the rest of the mag ball ammo.
I've shot both of those and my back-up .32acp beretta enuff into wet cardboard stacked up to know I sure don't want to get hit with any of 'em.
I made some dum-dum type bullets from cast .380 by 'Xing' with a jewelers saw. impressive damage.

BDA- BB and corbon JHP, Remington Express
LCP- corbon JHP, Remington Express

Why?

I don't carry a BUG and the only plastic I tolerate is in a pocket gun.

P3AT with CCI 95gr. FMJ, because they've proven to be 100% reliable in my particular pistol.

I only carry on my property but when I do so with a 380 ACP I use either my Bersa Thunder 380 or 380 CC with either Speer Gold Dots or Federal Hydra-Shok.

when i till had a 380, i carried fed hydrashock. but, last year my BIL shot a caged hog with an LCP at POINT BLANK RANGE with a pair of hydrashocks, double tap to the skull. NEITHER BULLET PENETRATED THE SKULL. they flattened and made a hideous mess of the scalp, but it was like skipping rocks off a pond. I think if I were to carry a 380 again, i'd want FMJ, just in case the next 300-lb leather-clad thing is an angry biker.
