"It appears it may have been an accident," Clouser said. "He was in the process of cleaning his gun. It appears that he had his dinette table covered with newspapers and he had the tools out to clean the gun with."
I know it's been beaten to death, but when things are worth remembering I say we beat them some more, and after that we beat it again: MAKE SURE YOUR GUN IS UNLOADED BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAN IT.
Oh, yeah... MAKE SURE YOUR GUN IS UNLOADED BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAN IT.
And in case I forgot to mention it- MAKE SURE YOUR GUN IS UNLOADED BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAN IT.
There is nothing more depressing than reading a story about an accident that never should have happened, no matter whether the person is famous or just Joe Blow working at the local Wal-Mart.
Don't be a statistic. Be safe, and for God's sake, use your head and think lest you end up using your head as a backstop.
