Well, I've been watching KY Gun Company for some time and looking on the website at the prices for their Tristar L120 CZ clones. I've never owned a CZ type handgun before, but was wanting a full size DA/SA 9mm.

As a background, I carried revolvers on the job in the late '70's and early eighties until we switched to the S&W 645 and then to 5906 9mm. so I was used to the trigger of these until my last duty gun was a Glock 19.

Anyway, now that I'm retired, I've been carrying a Glock 23 Gen 3 or a S&W Shield as my CCW gun. But because 9mm is so cheap now, i wanted another play gun that was bigger than the shield, and different.

So I was disappointed when I no longer saw the L120 listed on the KY Gun Co. website. Just the other day, I just happened to be driving past Bardstown, Ky and decided to stop in. I asked the guy at the counter if they were no longer carrying the L120 and he said they probably weren't if they weren't listed.

So, I thought I'd look around while I was there. Lo and behold, in a cabinet at the end, was a L120. I asked to see it, just to show him he had one. I told him I wanted it, so he went back to the warehouse and here he came with a brand new one. I bought it as fast as I could get out the money.

I have been shooting it for the last two weeks and have about 200 rounds through it. Once I got used to shooting a DA/SA handgun again, I will say I LOVE this gun. Yes it is big, but not as chunky as my Glock. It is accurate and the mags hold 17 rounds. It shoots soft, looks good and just ordered a couple of holsters for it. I also bought a "Sticky Holster" to see how it feels as an IWB carry.

I've been reading for a while about the CZ guys liking their guns, now I'm a fan also.

CZ fans seem much less common, but more devout than most makers.

I'm not giving up my K & N frames any time soon, but really dig me a CZ variant for a bottom feeder.

If it's 1/2 as good as the CZ, you're going to love it!

CZ fan here if you can't tell :) Once you shoot a CZ next to your other favorite in that caliber, most folks are shopping!

A couple of friends of mine have Canik/TriStar clones and they are great guns. I want a TriStar P-120.

The L120 is alloy framed and very ligh as well as comfortable to shoot.

Congrats on a good pistol.

Here's mine:

I have the Canik S-120 (a CZ-75B clone) in silver finish and it is a good shooter. I have several CZ knock off pistols.

I have been wanting an L120 for awhile now, must be time to pull the trigger.

Tekarra, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you can't find one, call Kentucky Gun Company. It's not listed on their website Tristar section lately, but I know as of 3 weeks ago they had some in the warehouse. Mine was $355.00, but I was there so it ended up being cheaper than shopping around and having one shipped and paying a FFL transfer to where I live from another dealer.

Academy Sports had the L120 cheap before, don't know if they still carry it now. Their price of $350 is well below the going rate on Gunbroker.
