I didn't know how to title this one. A picture? A plaque? But here it is. 20201128_181003.jpg 20201128_181037.jpg 20201128_181027.jpg
My Grandpa gave this to my Brother a few years before he passed away. He was the man who introduced me to firearms. My very first gun was gifted to me by him on Christmas when I was 8 years old. Great man.

Anyway, my Brother decided to give me the picture. I was thinking this has got to be some homemade job but the little print under each bullet looks professional. Pretty cool either way. I plan to clean it up and refinish the wood.

One problem... 20201128_181107.jpg I'm missing these three Sierra 45 cals. If there's a fellow reloader out there who has one or three of these Sierra's I'd definitely pay the shipping :p.

Kind of a cool heirloom.

My former lgs (I moved away) has a Hornady Board just like it.
I asked him if it was for sale.
He said no - very hastily I might add. He was not interested in selling it.

They are VERY cool IMHO.
Sorry I can't help with the missing bullets

I have to agree with the others, bullet boards are very cool and are a great addition to any reloading room/area.

Definitely keep it and if you do restore it, be careful with the bullets and the paper board. You'll have a hard time trying to find or fix them.

Right now I don't have any Sierra bullets in .45 to replace the ones that you need.

Thats a very cool gift. Especially since its been past down through your Family. I have one from a few years later than that one. I wish I had some of the bullets that you are missing but I just looked and I don't.

I would think long and hard before I refinished the wood or otherwise tried to restore it. The value of collectibles is often ruined by doing such things. Have you contacted Sierra about the missing bullets? They may be able to help you out with them, and/or give interesting info about the bullet board.

Edit: I once saw on a forum (not this one) an honest-to-God Colt single action army revolver that the owner had re-blued. You could almost hear the collectors wailing.

old bullet boards are cool, I am always looking for bullet boards like those when I stop at estate sales.
Bullet Board. Ha, that's the term I was lookin for.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I had no idea these things had much value. It's a keeper but that's interesting.

As said above, I would contact Sierra and would be surprised if they were unable to help.

very cool piece

Contact Sierra and tell them what you have and what's missing, I would do this via email with attached phicture. They may send you the missing bullets.
Here is what a Gentleman at Sierra sent me:

Well, the 240gr Jacketed Hollow Cavity and the 230gr Full Metal Jacket are still available items in our catalog. Unfortunately, the 185gr Full Profile Jacket Match bullet was discontinued last year and we ran out of them quickly here. On the up side, I was able to find one from my personal stash at home and have put it in the envelope with the others to send to you. This specific board was offered from 1981 up to 1995 so it has some age on it. The glue may be tired on all of the bullets so don’t be surprised if others fall also. It may be in your best interest to have it re-glued and spray finished to keep the bullets intact and free from oxidization for another 40 years. The projectiles can be polished with 0000 steel wool or a liquid polishing compound on a rag. I’ve done that a lot for photo shoots and I know they will shine better than new.

Have fun with your project, I know it will be a good looking piece when you’re finished.

Totally incredible. Also I'd like to thank @Engineer1911 for sending out the discontinued 185 Match as well. I'll be using his 185 for the board to remind me of the great community here and how the gun community in general is like no other.

Very cool. I believe they have changed ownership and possibly locations but they used to be a quick drive west of me.

I had a few seminars on their products from their rep. By far the most knowledgable rep Ive met.

I don't know where they used to be previously, but they're in Sedalia, MO, straight over on I-70, and then a little south. They sell factory seconds out of their factory outlet (a room in the corner of the plant) that are a pretty good deal. I picked up some .224 dia bullets back in October that I really can't find anything wrong with besides a couple that were a little off on weight. Definitely worth a call if you ever need components.

Thank you for the kind comments. When you have 500 sitting on the shelf, why not replace one that is missing? Two pawn shops / guns stores had big sales in Billings, MT. Those boys know how to write low prices in early June. We were fresh meat from Augusta, GA. They thought 3 of us were crazy for driving ~5,500 miles to shoot prairie dogs. I came home with about 25# of new bullets in the box(es). Now if I had just bought primers %^^)()&(%@#$@#&^%^*) ! ! !

My story is a little like yours. I do heavy haul and dropped a load in Billing in June.
Being as I was bobtail at that point went over to Scheels.it was only a couple miles away. Couldn't believe the inventory they had. Picked up a carton of Federal #100 small pistol primers I use in 22 Hornet and a couple different powders.
They had a huge stack of Federal primers.
Wish I could do that again.
Another bummer.......I stopped at Hornady in Grand Island, Nebraska yesterday to check on their seconds they sell. Big sign on door...
No more tours or sales of seconds.
Think its time to hang up over the road.
Stopped at Powder Valley and they are putting up a barrier so I can't park Semi and trailer.
I feel like my world is crashing in.
