My Rusty's Rags sample kit arrived last night and today was a good time to put it to use. All of my knives are working blades and see light duty, and they've never been formally cleaned. Here are a few I wanted to polish up from the "one-handed-openers" collection.

And after, including a Chinese jian I train with.

Up to now, on the handguns I've been using a standard gun-and-reel cloth for wipedown. I like the Rusty's cloths better. The combination of sheepskin for cleaning and flannel for polishing cleans deeply yet leaves less residue behind. After polishing, the knives are not slippery or greasy feeling, but have a brilliant shine. I will definitely be ordering more of these. Rusty's Rags win my unqualified endorsement as a superior product for blade cleaning and polishing, and I look forward to using them on my firearms. Thank you for letting me evaluate your product, Latham. You have one more loyal customer now.

A REAL good rag

I just got done wiping down my knife collection and a few guns, with a Rusty's Rag. Really did a good job, particularly in getting into the little nooks and crannies on the folders. This is the best product of its type I have tried.

Got mine yesterday afternoon. Cleaned up some shotguns and about 10 knives with it after I got home from work. I like this cloth alot! Shines everything I used it on. I used it on my most prized trap gun, and couldn't be happier. I'll be buying more, thats for sure.

Mine arrived at work last week, it didn't make my mailbox until yesterday.. I'll get some things lined up..

Latham, just a quick question, I have not read through all the papers, I assume this is food grade silicone? ..

Rusty Rags

Got mine in the mail a few days ago. Wow great product, works so well. I used mine on everything from a cheap fixed blade to my Sebenza. Great product, I will be buying some more in the very near future!

Thanks!!!

Got my trial rag in the mail a few days back. Last friday I believe.

Tried it out on some simple things, wiping down blades. That sort of thing. First thing I noticed was that normal silicon rags leave little bit and pieces, while the rusty rags wool rag picks these up, leaving no little bits on the blade. +1 for rusty rags.

But where this product really shines is checkering. or similar parts of a gun. gets in the cracks well and puts a nice even protective layer. that isn't slimey or slick like thicker silicone treatment rags. So the wood (or plastic ) stays grippy.

Also found a great use for the rusty rag as well, since it picks up lint and such so well, you can cut a thin strip from the rag 1/4" or smaller, and clean the inside pocket of knives out with it. get's all the gunk and pocket fuzz out. use a toothpick to push it around, and nothing is left behind.

Great idea, well executed. And a good price considering you are getting a leather backed rag, that should last forever.
Think I already need more though. Can never remember if it's by my guns, or around my knives.

I got my rags yesterday and immediately set about cleaning much of my knife collection and several of my guns. WOW! I am really impressed and the sheepskin cloth is extremely effective and really gets into the hard to reach places.

I concentrated on a couple of my revolvers. The sheepskin was very effective on the cylinder and forcing cone areas. I also got some great results in/around the trigger and hammer.

I highly recommend this product to everyone who wants a great product that does exactly (and more) than it claims.

Please try this product. You won't be disappointed.

Got a chance to really use mine today beyond the quick wipe down I did a few days back. WOW I love these things I started with my M&P since its my daily carry gun was VERY happy with it there how it performed on both the slide and in and around the trigger. I then used it on my Stainless Ruger Mark II and it made that stainless SHINE, another good result. Finally busted out the sig mosquito and tried it on that and I was amazed at how well that one wiped down.

So then I got a little more addicted, I used it on all my duty gear for work. Tried on cuffs and my asp and it all was great. I will be mentioning this to our operations guy hopefully he will order a truckload of these or at least strongly recommend them to the rest of our guys.

OK, I just want to make one more post about this rag:
I've been using it more and more since I got it.

I would usually field strip my carry piece and scrub out the dust and cob webs with a nylon brush, but Rusty's rag is even easier to use, because the little hairs get in all the right nooks and crannies, without leaving so much as a spec behind.

This says a lot, because I am downright anal retentive about my carry pistol.

I've had mine nearly a week now. I started out with my EDC Damascus Leek...nice
moved on to some mid-range customs...nice
finally used on my pride and joy - a Bailey Bradshaw slippie - very very nice

Works better than advertised, leaves no noticeable feel, odor, or slippery-ness(its a word now)

I'm afraid this is going to end up like Bics, firesteels, and space blankets - I keep hem in every vehicle, every pack, in my pocket, and have several spares.

Payday is tomorrow. I'll be ordering a couple of the combo packs from Rusty's Rags.

Nice idea, well executed!

Received mine and have used it on several of my knives and a couple of my pistols so far. It works as advertised as far as the wool pad getting into the nooks and crannies and it doesn't leave little lint clingies behind. Works equally well on park finished blades and firearms. I haven't tried it on blued yet but no reason to believe it won't be equally effective. The two part system - silicon wool pad with a polishing cloth works well.

Questions: can the pad be retreated, how often, and with what?

I will be getting more. It works.

Received mine a few days ago and put her to work last night. After only 3 knives, 1 rifle and 1 pistol, I am sold. Used it on my everyday CRKT folding blade, and it shined the thing to a beautiful sheen and loved how I could clean inside the folder and not leave lint or specks of stuff everywhere. Worked equally well treating and cleaning a fixed blade and a damascus knife. I then went to work on my rifle. Cleaned inside of barrel with solvent and then started on the outside. My usual routine would have been to wipe down with a patch soaked in BreakFree CLP. Until I used Rusty's Rag I had almost forgotten how pretty the bluing on my rifle could be. It took off a small bit of rust that had found its way on the barrel under the scope and then shined up the rest amazingly again without leaving behind a bunch of lint. Finally it easily cleaned my everyday carry a Colt SS 1911. I loved that the cloth was able to fit into smaller areas that can be cumbersome to clean. This product is HIGHLY recommended. I will be purchasing one of their combo packs after my trial with this one. I pay a lot of money for my guns and have absolutely no problem spending money on a quality product like this that will keep them in good condition.

Hello Everyone,

Keep the feedback coming in. We are so excited so many of you guys are happy with our product. This is the stuff we are looking for. Please tell your friends and also your local firearm store. So many people don't know about our product and the best advertising is word of mouth. Anything you can do to help our small company out will be appreciated.

We look forward to the people who have not left feedback yet. Thanks to everyone who is participating in this project. We truly like to test the market before we spend any effort producing a product. Most big gun companies put their product out on the market first instead of asking the very people who will be using it. We think we are doing it the right way and your feedback really does help.

Latham

Received the sheepskin kit today. It's cold and wet outside so I put it to use right away. Used it on blue, parkarized and stainless steel pieces and it did a remarkable job on all of them. I think this item is a must have for any cleaning kit and it beats anything I've used previously.

Communication after my email request was good and the sample arrived promptly. Packaging was excellent, with the Sheepskin and the polishing cloth being stored in separate resealable pouches. One of my pet peeves is having to find something to replace a products original packaging and I think the bags you use will hold up to everyday use just fine. Everything included appears to be of high quality, with the Sheepskin being the perfect size for handguns and knives. Not too large to be unwieldy but large enough to work well and hold a good amount of silicone.

Used the products on my Cold Steel and Kershaw folders along with the slide of my LCP. Results were gratifying, cleaning and leaving a protective layer without any slippery residue. Brought back a nice sheen on the blades. It made short work of my biggest problem with blades - shipping tape adhesive. I usually use rubbing alcohol on a patch to remove the adhesive, then follow up with a wipe of Breakfree or Weaponshield on a patch. The Sheepskin was able to remove the adhesive with two or three swipes. I'm curious to see how the silicone works as a protectant on the blades. The slide on the LCP came out looking good as new without being too slippery and the Sheepskin really gets into the slide serrations easily. You should definitely tout that ability on your website.

I think you have a winner on your hands here Latham. The sample I received is perfect for maintaining knives and handguns. Thanks for allowing me to evaluate it.

I am VERY impressed with these rags, will be ordering in the near future. I cleaned a Smith & Wesson knife, a Kershaw assissted opening tanto knife, a .410 shotgun, a 12 gauge pump shotgun, and a .22 with these, (just so far) and am SO impressed with them, will recomend to freinds. Thanks Latham!
