Friends with bad habits

People have been KILLED by bb/pellet guns. Inform your friends that the next time they point a gun at you they will be arrested. There is a threat of serious injury at least. One warning is all it takes. Then follow up on it.

I've had a couple of guns pulled on me. All of which were by fathers of my friends when we were being stupid late at night. One was a 12 gauge pump, the other a super redhawk .44mag... And, oh yeah, they were both loaded. Being young and dumb is fun but dangerous I guess. But having any gun, loaded or otherwise, pulled on you is never a fun thing...

you are correct IMO

YOU did well.
A few years ago i'm sitting at my desk and some A hole points his laser pointer at my chest, (I ALmost drew on him) I approached him in the hall and told him in no uncertain terms where i would put that device IF he ever did that again.(He never did)
I know someone who has a friend that he takes to the range, this "FRIEND/IDIOT" takes a loaded pistol and places it in the small of his back to see how it fits. JERK , my buddy ended that range session real quick.

Whenever i go to the range i try to get there early in the day or late before closing, if there are too many "COWBOYS" or wannabees i usually dont practice.

My best friend is blind in one eye from a bb gun. I will never forget that day. So no way did you over react. You under reacted IMNSHO.

I am definitely not a teen any more but I would have
PUT MY FOOT IN HIS @$$ !:D ..............Well maybe that is over reacting a bit, but THERE ARE NO SECOND CHANCES ! so have a nice talk with your friend and kindly ask that he NEVER do that again or you will take EXTREME MEASURES !;)

Habit habit habit

The rules of gun safety all work TOGETHER. You can't ignore one of them sometimes and another one sometimes and yet another one sometimes... because sometime you'll ignore TWO of them at the same time and then BLAM somebody's dead.

The reason you don't point a gun at anyone ANY time is because you are developing the HABIT of always practicing muzzle control without thinking. Which is the same reason you always check your firearm to verify that is it loaded/unloaded. Which is the same reason you always keep your finger outside the trigger guard.

I can't tell you how many times in a single weekend I tell someone at the range "watch your muzzle" as it is pointed right at me, and they say "oh, it's not loaded". Grrrrrr, THAT DOESN'T FREAKIN' MATTER, IDIOT!!! If you watch it whether it's loaded or not, you NEVER have to worry.

Shoeless

Most of us, certainly myself included, are at a point where we CANNOT point a gun at a human being, unless the need is so dire there's no other choice. The exception is when I personally know the gun is sufficiently *visibly* disassembled that it's no longer a gun. A Ruger single action with the cylinder pulled and the base pin back in so the action works is a good example, if demonstrating disarm techniques or something.

A solid plastic "red gun", or a squirt gun in a pinch is even better.

This sounds like a reoccurring theme with him. Next time he does it take it from him and smash it to bits on the ground.
