Hey everyone! I haven't checked in for a very long time, but I'm glad to see that the High Road community has been thriving and developing even without me! Hehe, well- here's the thing. A friend of mine recently got his hands on an Airsoft rifle. Not very fancy, just a cheap old spring loaded replica of a HK G36 with no safety mechanism what so ever and very inaccurate, to say the least. However, I am concerned, because they seem to think that since it's an airsoft, they can do whatever they want with it. Should have seen trouble when they first walked in the door with the gun in hand, but they know I'm anal about gun safety. Anyway, so I figured they just wanted to stop by and show me, well- first of all, when they stopped by, I didn't know they had bought the gun. How did I find out? When I stepped outside, they took a shot at me. I thought it was a firecracker, but I had seen no sparks, and I was not a happy camper when he showed with with the rifle. So, we were inside, and we were just chilling when I figured they'd probably shoot something if they didn't soon, so I grabbed a box for them to shoot at, well, when I came back, they were messing around with my motorcycle jacket and I was not a happy camper. But even worse, they got into a chase, which ended up with my dumbass drummer armed with my AIR RIFLE (yes, an air rifle) and my other friend and his stupidly inaccurate airsoft gun standing at the door. I tried to defuse the conflict, and when I got the air rifle, i found out that it had been loaded (air hadn't been pumped in though). They were acting like little five year old kids. And when I finally asked them to leave, they left, but not before shooting each other with the air soft guns. I was extremely pissed off, to say the least. I tried confronting them about it and talking to them, but they just give me that "oh, stop being a little pussy" attitude. SO, what should I do?

The rules apply to....

Real guns, fake guns, toy guns, airguns, Airsoft guns, water guns, dart guns, cap guns and most squirt bottles and spray cans.

"You'll shoot your eye out."

These things still have the potential to injure like taking someone's eye out if they're not wearing glasses. I remember when I was a kid playing army with BB guns. Has the potential to be dangerous but we were dumb kids.

I would not want to be near your friends around any real guns though. Although these air soft guns seem kinda neat I have no interest in them compared to the real thing. If I had one I'd treat it like a real gun just the same. Wouldn't want to get used to letting my guard down.

The group of guys I play with along with myself obviously practice the standard rules inbetween rounds, proper muzzle discipline, etc. There are alot of people out there who don't take proper care with these though. They must be idiots because I value my eyesight a whole damn lot, and I would be crushed if I accidentally shot the eye of a friend out, so it's a no brainer to try to be as safe as a regular firearm with them...

I have no problem with folks shooting each other with bright orange toy guns. However, Airsoft's scare me and I refuse to own one. The problem is they look too real especially to those nieve about guns.

It's all fun and games until somebody accidently picks up the real Beretta instead of the toy one and proceeds to put 9mm holes in their friend.

Or the bad habit of horsing around doesn't stop when intentionally handling real weapons.

this is why i'm all for the idea of a manual on proper firearm dissapline and safety being included with airsoft's and it being beaten into there heads at airsoft sooting meets/skirmishes.

it would go a long way towards preventing possably faital accedents caused by the "Firearm Ignorance" that so many kids and adults seem to have.:fire:

Some airsoft people are stupid about gun safety because they have the luxury to be. I seem to remember a brief safety manual being encluded with my airsoft pistol though.

The funny thing is that the opposite side of the coin is also true. Most airsoft pistols include additional safeties not found in their real counterparts. My Crosman P99 has a small manual safety that blocks the trigger (but it lacks the decocker safety found on the real Walther). Likewise at least one brand of airsoft glocks have an additional manual safety in place of one of the takedown levers (the trigger safety works too).

I find the airsoft crowd interesting because it gives a certain level of objective analysis of the real guns. For instance some airsofties hate (or love) the ergonomics of glock pistols. Likewise the inclusion of additional handling safeties on some guns (like glocks) is interesting to me as well.

Stop being a pussy.:neener:

Seriously, though, I thought that people use airsoft to practice tactics and shoot each other? WHen not doing that, though, I would think the regular rules apply. Safety first and all that. It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye.

If someone I knew, (or didn't know), pulled an airsoft on me without my knowing better, that person would likely be staring down the barrel of a .40 until the weapon was on the ground. Once I knew what the deal was, (airsoft), I'd tell that person just how lucky and stupid they were.

Then I would let that person know how firarms rules apply to all firearms regardless of what they shoot.

Yep....dangerous toys.

Let's ban them. Ban them all. If it saves one life....

Oh, and let's make them all orange and see-through. You know, just like the ones we all had as kids. Oh wait, mine were hyper-realistic back then. Crapola! How did I ever survive?

Why not worry about the moron holding said implement rather than focus on the implement?????? Doesn't this argument sound vaguely familiar.

YES! Of coures the gun safety rules apply. I even catch my self with my finger running across the side of a spray bottle all the time. Gun safety applies to anything with a trigger. Even if the thing is not that dangerous, you need to keep in the routine of safety!

Yeah yeah blah blah...

It's the airsoft GUN's fault that your friends are complete idiots?

Listen to yourself...

I'm surprised that I'm the first to point this out. You should ALL be ashamed of yourselves.

I've shot many of my friends with water pistols and airsoft guns and they've also shot me in return. We spent untold hours in our yards running and shooting and then arguing about who was actually shot first.

No one was ever injured. No one called the cops, and this was back when the guns looked pretty real.

It would be foolish to pull an Airsoft on an unsuspecting person, but among friends who know what's going on, it's just fine.

My cousins have rushed me with water pistols when I wasn't expecting it and I never feared for my life.

If your friends want to point guns at each other you should all go to the paintball shoots in your area. Get some safety gear (PPE) and fire away !

Umm, did you actually read the original post? Let me point something out:

If you're walking down the street and someone points an airsoft at your head, are you really going to know what it is immediately? Hell no. Same applies here: You walk outside and as far as you know, that's a real gun pointed at you and being fired.

That's the point I was trying to make.

Yeah, I'm soooo ashamed of myself. Like I said earlier, if that had been me in his situation, my "friend" would be staring down a .40.

Firearms safety rules are for firearms.

But Airsoft can sting pretty bad, especially when not expected. Air rifle can be truly dangerous. When an Airsoft is fired at someone who has no safety gear on, bad things can happen.

If someone points something that looks like a firearm at me, I'll probably respond as if it is a firearm.

Yohan's friends were stupid -- say, about as stupid as my friends and I were when we were teenagers. Nothing new under the sun.

If you're hanging with someone whose behavior is likely to get him shot, you may want to reconsider.

Here's a Pic of a cheap But HIGHLY Realistic Airsoft Replica of the Modified M93F that was used in the Movie "Robocop" that I own.

As you can see, it would be quite hard to distiguish from the real thing at a distance.

Water guns?:banghead:

Sorry, that's where I draw the line. I fully intend to shoot each and every person that has the misfortune to cross my path when I am armed with one of these. And if it's the wrong person, oh well. I've also been guilty of shooting myself inadvertantly, because of bad trigger discipline. Don't really care, it's all part of the fun.

Other than the actual differences between a Beretta and a Taurus they're very close to each other. Even break down in the same manner with very similar parts too. Very realistic looking, paint over the orange barrel tip and it's be DAMN hard to tell it wasn't real pointing at you.

BUT, you're not going to accidentally go out on the field for an airsoft match with your real pistol on accident and not realize it isn't your airsoft though as someone hinted at, the weight and material differences are pretty large, night and day no mistaking that IMO.

I'd Just like to mantion Incase anyone gets any odd Ideas, the Airsoft I have does not have an orange/red barel end because there is no law that says they have to here.
I did not paint over it!

To the person who called me a "Pussy"

First of all, I had asked them specifically not to shoot the gun indoors. I don't know about you guys, but I have a lot of fragile items all over the house, mirrors, glasses, china, etc. etc. etc. and all it'd take is just one unlucky richoche to go off and break an item. Since when does wanting to keep my household glassware intact make me a pussy? Yeah, the guns are designed to wreck havoc on people, but I just didn't like the way that my "friends" were waving them around and shooting randomly, especially since one of them had told me that he had shot and broken someone's garage lights.

Yep....dangerous toys.

Let's ban them. Ban them all. If it saves one life....
OMG, are you in the right forum? [/sarcasm]

The doctor's spoken! Shame on me! SHAME! As a matter of fact, I AM surprised that you are the first to point this out, I mean, it's obviously my fault that my friends decided to be idiots, right?
