I saw a dashboard recording from a police cruiser in TX, of a shootout at what was approximately seventyfive yards with police out on the highway.

I believe the shooter; felon had already shot one state policeman.

Four or five officers lined up in formation, shoulder to shoulder and brisquely walked straight down the highway closing in on the shooter who had taken cover behind his car door. They were under fire, but this shooter was so shaken, he didn't hit any of them. I think.

It was like the shootout at the OK corral or something. I've not seen that amazing scene again, but would like to. I would also like to know the outcome. My excuse: I must have been napping and just awakened when I saw this thing.

Does anyone know of this incident, or where I could see it again?

It may have been one of the Sherriff Bunnell episodes.

Someone needs to teach them infantry tactics.

Strange tactics

Someone needs to teach them infantry tactics.
May be, but at the very least they ought to start giving phycho tests during recruitment !!!!

You might try asking over at texaschlforum.com. Mostly locals and a few LEOs -- someone is bound to remember the incident you're referring to.

Similar Tactics in New York City in Early 90s

There was a similar but not identical incident in Queens in the nineties. A man killed one or more people and eventually took refuge in a parking garage. There was a wild firefight and for whatever concatenation of reasons a large number of police officers were unable to hit him, he just kept moving, dodging, hiding behind cars, etc. Eventually they formed a rough skirmish line and headed to the shooter, firing while walking abreast (shades of the BAR across No Man's Land!). They were thus able to stop the criminal. I think Mas wrote this up in one of his columns.

I saw that video about two weeks ago on Spike t.v. chanel!:what: The officers were after a man that had just shot a trooper, I think in Omahaw, the man's truck went off the road. In the dashboard camera you seee 3 then 4 officers walking fast in a line sholder to sholder at about arms length with their rifles sholdered aiming at the truck, the man in the truck fires 1 shot then the troopers open up on the truck at a disdance of about 50 yards. by the time they get to the truck in a line view I think you can see maby 7 troopers in the line. The man fireing on the troopers was killed. In the end of the video on of the troopers is being interviewed by the t.v. news. He holds up a lever action rifel and said something like " The man shot and kill on Interstate so and so was armed with this lever action rifel in .308 cal. The man fired on the troopers first and they returend fire killing him. We also believe this is the wepon he used to shoot Trooper so and so about 10 min. earlier on interstate so and so." then he shows where one of the rounds fired from the troopers put a hole in the butstock. I think I remeber seeeing the date in the dashboard camera '88 or '89 not sure. I think the wounded trooper maid it. I'm just parafraising all of this because it was such a short and amaizeing viedo and I only saw it once. Oh ya, I think the Troopers were using AR-15's. I hope someone can find this viedo.

Yup, it worked. I dunno, if I'm ducked behind a car door and seven mofos are steadily advancing on me with ARs puttin' out rounds the whole way, I'm not poppin' my head up. Fact is, I'm likely gettin' holed.
Hats off to the Troopers.
Superior tactics, in this hairy ol' Scooter Tramp's opinion.

Biker:)

Thain, you've got the old version of that quote. I've added the updated version, with Murphy's Corollary:
"In ten years, no one will remember stance, caliber, or tactics. Only who's alive and who's dead.... unless it's posted on YouTube."
