I entirely willing to believe he was a SEAL, simply because there are too many people out there actively checking bona fides on people claiming to be former SEALs. If the guy were faking that part of his resume, it would only take a phone call out to southern California to check what BUD/S class he went through to clear that up.

His narration, though, does leave a lot to be desired. I personally go back and forth between thinking he's dealing with writers trying to dumb down technical matters to the lowest common denominator (and getting paid to narrate what they write, as someone already noted), or just wasn't the most weapons switched on guy to ever be a SEAL. Or maybe the least switched on guy to ever be a SEAL, weapons wise. I suspect it is probably the former situation, or mostly the former situation . . . but regardless, the show annoys me to the point that I've only seen it a couple times. Cool premise, poor execution.
