It is a reasonable presumption that the Glock 43 was intended to be carried as a defensive pistol. I suppose it could be a home defense gun or a range gun but most likely a carry gun. With that in mind, when you carry this gun, will you be carrying it as a primary carry gun or as a backup gun?

I'll use the 26 for winter carry and 43 for summer.

Just add a Pearce +1 floor plate and same +p+ Winchester 127 gr JHPs.

Neither. Too many better choices out there that are actually on shelves, and didn't take forever to listen to market demand.

I am replacing my G26 with the G43 as a primary carry pistol in rotation with other 9mm pistols. I shot all the other single stack 9's looking for something a little thinner and didn't like them better than my G26.

The G43 is toted by Massad Ayoob as a "G42 on a little bit of steroids" and since I *really* like my Wife's G42 it is a done deal. Unless it doesn't perform in which case I'll sell it and keep the G26.

Simple.

I'll save my G43 money and apply it to my G40 savings. I have a Shield, no need for a 43.

Other ....

I voted other because if I purchase a new Glock 43 9x19mm pistol(which won't be until the end of 2015 or early 2016), I will use it for multiple things.
Travel/vehicle defense(2nd gun), back up, CCW, security duty/EP plainclothes details.
I own a M&P Shield no thumb safety 9x19mm so I'm in not rush to buy a CCW single stack 9mm. I'm left handed so the Glock 43 does have that appeal but the Shield works fine for now.

Other, won't be getting one. I don't really need another Glock, let alone a single stack.

I'll stick with my 19 for carry purposes. If I need a backup I'll get a 26 (or, more likely, a J-Frame revolver).

Pretty much exactly what Vodoun said in post 5. I like the 42 my wife bought a lot, but I already reload 9mm. I'm getting one or the other...I may just get another 42 and a set of dies and load for both of us...will be a good excuse for more reloading gadgets.

I have a Rohrbaugh R9 which I pocket carry as my only firearm.

If I were to get a backup it would be a likewise small and lightweight pistol.

I personally wouldn't get the G43 as a backup - it seems kind of large to be a backup.

I wouldn't use the G43 as home defense unless there wasn't any other way for me to afford a more effective firearm.

As a sorta disinterested observer (read - too broke to consider one), I'd have to wonder if the G43 will be a smooth reliable gun or if will have teething issues.

I also have to wonder how in the world Glock ever expects to sell another G42 after the G43 hits the street.

Some people will want a small .380 and don't care if it's not as powerful as a 9.

They will buy the 42.

Others will go the 9mm route.

For me the G42 is about a large as I want to go (dimensionally and weight) for ankle carry. The G43 is probably a tad too big and heavy to be comfortable for me to ankle carry.

As we have found from Handloading & Reloading category, G42 comes with stiff recoil spring that requires heavier powder charges to cycle the slide reliably translated to softer (less snappy) recoil.

Since the recoil of G43 will be more snappy, G42 may appeal to those looking for 380 but with less snappy recoil of typical 380 pistols.

This review of G43 has a comparison between G42 and G43 shooting impressions along with other 9mm single stacks - http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/new-glock-9mm-single-stack-glock-43-hands-on/
