I built this base several years ago to save strain on my bum neck and it worked well. Now my neck has become stiffer so I decided to raise it even higher. The original was built completely from red oak scraps I had laying around. I couldn't find any more oak so clear pine had to do. It's not too pretty now but it works. The picture was taken as I set at my bench. No more twisting my neck around. The scale sit straddling a wooden piece so it is secure and the aluminum strip should help to prevent knocking the trickler off it's little shelf plus it sits on no slip lining material as does the base of the elevator block. It stays where you set it down.

Necessity is a mother. I’m always amazed at the things hobbyists come up with that tie two hobbies together. The sheer amount of creativity here is astounding. I made one similar but mine had leveling bolts on each corner and a t-shaped level on it, but I didn’t make it tall enough so it sits on 2 2x4 blocks. Great job on yours, I like it better, and I think the pine looks good with the oak.
