I took my son shooting yesterday. He has a Buckmark he shoots. Then, I always let him put a few rounds thru some of my 9mms.

I have shot nothing but my Shield Pluses for the past 8 months (I have a Perf Center 4", Performance Center 3", and a regular 3" Shield Plus with night sights). But, he likes to shoot my Glock 19. Out of all my 9mms, he shoots that one the best.

I hadn't shot the G19 in quite some time. After he put some rounds thru it, I thought I would put a few rounds thru it too... Man, that Glock grip angle thru me off after shooting my S&Ws non stop.

On my G34 Combat Master, Taran Tactical recontours the grip. But this was a stock, Gen 5 G19. I've shot bullseyes with it before. But, I would need a trip or two of shooting nothing but the Glock to get a feeling for it again.

I must say, I really prefer the S&Ws. I don't even have to put any effort in to shoot them well... Especially the 4" Shield Plus version...

Well, I had been debating whether or not to give my son my G19 for a while now. Guess what... While cleaning it with me, I made it his. He was very excited. It had around 500 rounds thru it before the trip yesterday, so it is barely used.

Of course, it stays in my safe until he is 21, but it is his now.

I have another G19 coming back from Taran Tactical soon anyway. But, that one will have a recontoured grip, like my first Taran Tactical G34. So, it won't have the traditional Glock grip angle. I don't mind letting him have the stock one.

He is just lucky he wanted that Glock... Other guns I own, I would not have parted with :)

My first firearm was a Marlin Glenfield 25 bolt action .22 LR. Dad bought it for me on my 16th birthday and stored it until the end of my teens, though we took it shooting whenever I wanted. I've traded away almost everything else from my 20s, but not the Marlin -- and I still enjoy shooting it. It has a different stock now and a shorter barrel:

I didn't own a handgun until after my 21st, though I really wanted a High Standard Sentinel in my late teens.

Your son is lucky -- I hope he enjoys his 'new' Glock as long and as much as I've treasured my Marlin.

I believe in certain states or most, he can have the pistol at age 18… someone help me on that one, please

My son graduated Uni. and moved to CA, so it wasn't easy, but he wanted a Browning Hi-Power and we managed to get that done. When my daughter graduated and moved out she first got a Glock 43, but didn't like it and I got her a Beretta 81 and a carry permit. Sonny moved back to Philly, tried my 43X EDC and I got him one of those. Neither is really into shooting, but at least they are competent and well-equipped.

if my boys are interested when they get at age, They can have anything from my collection. Enjoy the gun now not sit in a safe for decades
