I put a new scope on my Marlin XT 22 mag. Took the CZ along too. After i got the Marlin zeroed. Im shooting tight groups 1 inch or so. Using CCI maxi mags hollow points 40 grain. I have a Cheaper scope on it too. A Centerpoint with the BDC. The CZ i have a Buckmasters scope on it. Im getting 2 inch groups. I tried some Maximags 40 grain FMJ too. My question if any one has a CZ457 in 22 mag. What ammo did you find best? I have some winchester 45 grain load on hand and some winchester 40 grain plated/jacketed too.

Ops forget to mention im shooting 50 yards.

Have you removed and re-installed the barrel? If not, you might want to try that, and also try it at various grub screw torque settings. I only have CZ 452s (barrels are threaded into the action) but I've read numerous times from owners of the 455 and 457 models with their interchangeable barrel system that this sometimes when an individual gun isn't shooting up to par for a CZ.

EDIT: meant to write, ... that this sometimes HELPS when an individual gun isn't shooting up to par for a CZ.

Also, CZ rimfires often respond to adjustments in the action torque settings (how tight the screws are that hold the action into the stock), so you may want to try different torque settings there.

If you search the CZ/BRNO forum on rimfirecentral you should be able to find threads discussing the above.

I know this doesn’t help but just adding it as a contrast. Couple weeks ago shot a Marlin SSV .22 Mag with 40 grain CCI Maxi Mag. One ragged hole. Put it down and shot a brand new M77/.22 Mag… grouped around 2 inches ( maybe somewhat larger :() Posted those results on a different thread.

Ive owned a couple of Marlin .22mags and both of them were shooters. I need to dig through my stash of .22mag ammo and see if I can find anything else the Ruger likes before I start playing with torquing stock screws etc. I’m pretty confident the issue isn’t with the new scope or how it’s mounted.

Had a 452fs in .22 mag. Shot everything pretty well and consistent. It really loved the lighter 30 grain loads. Try some of the lighter weight bullets
