Got it like six months ago, haggled my local gun store to $300.00 , have about 300 rounds through it so far haven't cleaned it or taken it apart yet but the mk IV is easy to.

Fiddled around with the sights last weekend getting closer to getting it dialed in , before this just shot it and lets friends shoot it but was shooting low and right.

Only tested three ammo brands so far, Aguila which jams a lot in it, Thunderbolt which I know a lot of people rag on that ammo but it shoots good in my other Ruger MK 1.22, and Federal bulk target ammo. I think I'm gonna settle on the Federal as the main ammo for it. Still need to maybe click one more up elevation and test it also at 15 yards after the latest sight adjust.

But this is now my main .22 range handgun, the blued finish is not spectacular, the rear sight is a bit flimsy when adjusting windage on it, but it is my main shoot and shoot it a lot .22 now.

photo attachment acting weird here are targets standing two handed 10 yards if I concentrate more I should be able to keep 10 in the 10 ring but was getting fatigued

What? It took you six months to get acquainted with her; why so long?
BTW, she's a beauty.

So many guns too little time, all the 10 shot challenges we did last year with various guns rifles and handgun, then the fact that I bought like crazy last year a bunch of different guns, takes time to get to them all.

This year I will be less buying and more shooting what I have.

I think I’ve had maybe one “jam” in 15K rounds with my MKIII 22/45. Lots of OTHER problems lately with ignition but it feeds everything I throw at it.

Yours looks like it shoots well! I never saw the need for the MKIV as I find the dis/reassembly of the Rugers to be very straightforward (and I don’t like the look of the hinge) but that’s a handsome pistol.

Mrs. McGee has a Mk IV 22/45 Target. I have a 22/45 Lite and was a bit jealous, so I bought a Target upper, making mine a convertible Frankenruger. They're a lot of fun. Congratulations on getting acquainted with yours!

I put federal target in mine pretty exclusively if I don't have some Ellye or CCI green box loaded up. They really shoot well with standard pressure loads IMHO. Have you tried Federal Premium yet? I got a grouping the size of a nickel with it.

This is a good problem to have.

People actually disassemble their other earlier Rugers? lol guess I should but thousands of rounds through the MK1 I never have I just clean the barrel, wipe down the feed ramp and use a q-tip around the bolt face and extractor and call it cleaned. After hearing it can tricky to disassemble I just didn't bother so far so good.

This one being easy to well yes I will, and to answer other questions no haven't tried other ammo maybe will sometime but gonna shoot what I have on hand for now because I have to stop buying for a while I just have to, I went off the rails last year. There are some things I want this year, but not till later this year.

While I can't shoot all my guns too often, this is my main .22 now, that goes to the range most often from now on. When I really want to do the best I can the MK1 with 6 7/8 barrel is what comes out but being so old and a pass down from dad thought it was time to get a new main shooter, for as cheap as I could that I don't care if it gets scratched or whatever even though I won't be abusing it.

Ruger mk pistols are amazing. I had a 22/45 mk3 that I sold, kept the mk3 competition target . shoots like a laser beam. Maybe a ruger mk series only competition once you're practiced up? I'd be in.

Yes they are, especially for the money, still want a Colt match target on day, never tried a Buckmark heard they are real good. But when it comes to target shooting especially past 10 yards, it's my dad's now mine MK1 I feel most confident with. The longer barrel is just better for me for that. I have a MK II also, but the MK1 is my go to when I really want to get the best group or score. Only other Ruger I can see myself getting after this, a MK 2 with the 6 7/8 barrel just like the MK1. My MK1 will probably keep on ticking forever but being a heirloom just thought it was time for another main plinking Ruger.

Final test and sight in last weekend at 10 yds two hand hold, and today indoors at 15 yds two handed. Have decided Federal 40 gr will be my prefered ammo for it, I tested many different brands like Remington, Winchester, Aguila, Armscor and CCI and they didn't do any better overall than the Federal and the Federal is available locally

At 15 yards my group opens up a bit, after many tries I can't keep 10 shots in the 8 ring or better, but this is my plinker and 10 yard .22 mostly ,past 10 yards I do better with a longer barrel .22

Have over 500 rounds in it without cleaning it, has run flawless so far however I will be cleaning it soon.
