Anyone have problems with their Glock slides not locking back after the last round has been dispensed? My friend has an older Glock 17 "pretty old". The gun fires great, but the slide, I'd say 95% of the time doesn't lock back.

The slide locking back is actually a function of the magazine follower. Of course, the release is there too, but I bet you will most likely find that IF you try some other (newer) magazines, the problem will likely go away.

There are really only 3 things that cause this:

1. Bad magazine/followers
2. Bad slide release
3. Worn out slide stop in slide (not likely at all)

Good luck, and I am putting my money on the follower/magazine.

Make sure the mags are clean. We often, me included, forget that the mag is an integral part of the firearm.

I was gonna say bad mag, but for others out there that are experincing this problem, I have seen alot of people complain about the slide not staying back, but it was there thumb that was to blame the whole time, hitting the slide stop. Just FYI and not the case here but for others Info! Thanks!

I have to agree w/ possum. That is one really big gripe I have w/ Glocks. I use the two thumbs forward grip and I always ride the slide release meaning I never get slide lock. Check your thumbs!!!!

I am normally ok about not doing that to my xd, but i do it all the time with my glock19, which is because of the extended slide release.

Glock mags are dirt cheap compared to most. Tell him not to be so cheap and buy a couple new ones :)

I have been having the same problem with my 19rnd mag's during IPSC training, having said that I been shooting that Norinco milball crap, due to getting a great deal on a 2k box, only another 500 or so to go, then the whole rig get's a good cleaning.

Oh by the way the Norinco ammo deal, has proved to a bad move, as the G17 dosent like it much, the bullet's out of unopened boxes are coming out with some corrosion on the cases.

Toe.

Do the mags have aftermarket +2 floor plates? If so, these with a weak spring will cause that fault.
