Hi, all...just looking for some feedback on this Glock variety that's been around a long while, the G19. I'm considering purchasing one for use as a CCW handgun. I like the Glock's rep for durability and reliability, and the size of the G19 seems to work for me. I'm okay with carrying a 9mm, though the "dark side's" polymer frame would be a bit of a departure for me as most of my carrying has been with 1911s, Smith K-Frame Magnums, and most recently a SIG P239.

Any and all info is appreciated...thank you! :)

 In my opinion, the Glock Model G-19 is the best pistol of the entire Glock handgun line. It is proven, reliable, high capacity, carries easily, and has the best safety record! Go for it! It's the one, 'other Glock' I wish I, also, owned; I doubt that you'll, ever, regret the decision. ;)

PS: If you do get one and don't like it, call me! I'll be glad to take it off your hands. :D

The G19 was my first CCW pistol and served me well.

I picked up a used 2nd Gen G19 that was born in 91. I personally have shot more than 4,000 rounds thru it without a hiccup. I have no idea how many rounds have been thru it before me.

It has since been retired by my Kimber .45 but still gets plenty of range time. I even carry it from time to time just for old time sake.

Its a tried and true platform that will treat you well for many years to come. Dont have any hesitations getting a G19 at all. Its well worth it.

By the way, I carried mine in a Comp-Tac Undercover Pro kydex holster with ease. Very comfortable.

I think the Glock 19 stands as the standard against which all other midsize plastic guns should be measured. It really is a sweet package. Properly sized, respectable capacity, really a good all around 'do everything' type of pistol. You can carry it take it to the range, whatever you really want short of hunting can be done with it.

i 've owned serveral glocks and the only one that is still in the cabinet is my G19. it has a unique combination of size, weight and feel that just makes it a great packing and shooting pistol for me.

for my purposes the perfect holster for my 19 is the fobus paddle. it is the highest and tightest riding of the fobus line.

mine came with the 8.5lb NY-1 trigger...so adding a 3.5lb connector takes it back to the stock 5.5lbs, but with some feel. i added the hogue slip-on grips, to fill the palm, and about 10 extra mags and i was good to go

IMO the G19 is a great CCW and an excellent pistol. No other pistol gives you the capacity, toughness, shootability, reliability, and concealability mixture of the G19.

Have to concur with the majority here. I picked up a 2nd gen G19 about a year and a half ago. I believe it is one of the best midsize high capacity 9mm's out there. I'm actually thinking about getting another.

I have a 19 and I like it a lot. Although my primary carry is a 1911, I sometimes carry the 19, especially if I want to carry something lighter, or if I want the nice white sights of the Glock for low-light conditions. (Have to do something about those darned Kimber black sights <sigh>). It is a very reliable gun but I can't shoot it as well as I can a 1911.

Really? hmmmm Would you like to prove that by standing at the receiving end of a 9mm? Oh, well, I see what your signature says.:D

One of my Glocks is a 19. I agree that this pistol is a gem and one of the very best handguns out there. The only question about them currently is the 2183-1 follower in the mags which causes some people to have trouble shooting certain hollowpoints. I personally have not had that problem but it's been reported. You can get replacement followers from Glock.

I've had one for 10 years. Although I'm not a fan of Glock style pistols, my G19 has run very very well.

Hi-Cap Mags

Is it still possible to find Highcap Mags for the glock 19? Aren't they more than $100.00

Hi-caps for the G19 are comparably cheap. If you pay more than $60, you're getting screwed.

The G19 will take 15 in a normal mag and it will also accept the G17 mags. There are +1 and +2 kits for normal mags. so you could have a normal mag with a +2 and a G17 mag with a +2 as a reload this would give you 36+1 rounds on tap....

Great guns and easy to carry. I had a Hogue grip on mine but the litle bit af palm swell bothered me so I cut a piece of inner tube and slipped it on. I would prefer the 2nd gen but I have a 3rd with a little judicious trimming of the finger grooves and it is better.

I'd go with a G17. It's only slightly larger than a G19. You read about less problems with a G17 than you do with any other Glock. YMMV:cool:

my g-19 has been a very good gun ,completely reliable and add ons are easy and cheap to get. i just bought new 15 rd glock mags for 60 and 33rd mags for 70 . a excellent gun for the purposes it was designed for.
buy your mags on the net as most gun shows in my area are a 1/3 to 1/2 higher for same thing.

Odd number starter set...

I have 3 Glocks--G17, G19, and G21. Of these three, I enjoy shooting the G19 the most.

It feels like an extension of my hand, and I am slightly more accurate with it than with my G21, and quite a bit more accurate with the G19 than the G17. I can't explain why, since the grips are the same width, but that's how it is.

The G19 is easily controllable, returns to aim quickly, and has given me zero problems. I may sell the G17 and G21, but I will keep the G19 until either it or I die. I'm assuming I'll go first.
