First gun
I just purchased this gun, the day before the concealed carry class I had signed up for. I had gone in there with pretty firm intentions of buying the Glock 19 that I had handled three weeks earlier. But while there, thinking hard about the $$ I was about to plop down, I felt it was my duty to try out every other gun that was in my price range. I had shot a loaner G21 at the range once, and never quite got on with the bulky grip, so I very nearly ignored the funny-looking G21, underneath the glass. I'm glad I didn't.
When I picked it up, I did a doubletake. "This is .45 cal, right? It holds 13 rounds, right?" I decided in about 2 seconds that Glock had changed the grip, because I could hold it properly! For my hands, there was very little functional difference between the grips on the 19 and 21SF. Not only that, but doublestack and all, I can reach the slide stop without shifting grip, which I can't do on a 1911. I can also reach the mag release (ok, I'm a cheater - I use the one on the right side, pressed with my middle finger), which I cannot do on a 1911.
So for those who are saying that the 21SF is only a gun that would interest G21 fans, I just wanted to tell you that you are wrong. The ones that could ALMOST get their paws securely around a G21 might wanna give this one a try.
Took the CCW class the next day, having never shot the gun, nor any gun, in 10 years. All 40 in the center ring but the last two (but I was getting tired... had the bad flu that day.
The gun is so light, and grip so comfortable, I think I'm gonna try shooting off-hand next trip to the club.
