Glock 26 or Taurus G3c

I will attest to that. What galls me is, if you need a replacement part, Taurus will absolutely not ship it to you, you need to send the gun to them. The extractor in my PT1911 broke, after more than 10 years of shooting every weekend, and none of the spare extractors I have will fit, because of course they won't. Not all 1911 parts will fit Taurus 1911s. I called, said I needed one, and how much will it be. No, I have to send the whole gun to them..

It's been sitting in my sock drawer for a year now.
Maybe talk to Numrich about a replacement? Take it this is the internal extractor, as was original on 1911s.
Will Taurus bring it back on their dime? Just send it, frustrating as that might be. It does sound like someone at Taurus Legal decided that customers fitting parts was some sort of liability issue.

Numrich doesn't carry it, it's a "proprietary" extractor 🙄. I'd have to buy a printer to print out a shipping label, drive to a UPS store, sign a bunch of forms, wait 20 weeks or so.....I have other guns to carry, so it can sit until I have absolutely nothing to do. It just irritates me to no end thinking about it, because it's just a simple extractor replacement. That alone has put me off buying another Taurus.

I hear a lot of good about the Taurus G3!
I would not be afraid to give the Taurus a try. If it will be primarily used for carry I would look at the Taurus GX4.

I don't own a Taurus semiautomatic, but do own a Glock 26. I just feel that the Taurus pistols are a good value 😌

I'll mind your business here for just a moment, and please, no disrespect. Not familiar with the Taurus 1911; is the extractor internal, like a Colt? Before I sat and stewed on it, I'd try making one, or talk to a local 'smith.
I feel your aggravation. :(

I hate to “like” your post but that’s where I’m at with my one and only Taurus. The transfer bar snapped, leaving the gun inoperable. It’s not under warranty. If it was a $15 part like it should be, I’d still be happy with it. As it sits, I’m waiting for a gun buy back or possibly sell it to a gunsmith so he can hopefully use it as a donor.

Yep, internal. It just not shaped exactly the same. I've tried three other extractors, including a Wilson Combat, none fit, even with some filework. It's just a proprietary thing Taurus does with vital components.

I bought a brand new Taurus one time. It worked sometimes, sometimes it didn’t. I gave it away. I’ve bought Eight Glocks since then, and carried a few others Glocks that belonged my employer. I can’t imagine trying to decide between the two.
Which model 🤔

I EDC my Gen 5 Glock 26. It is a pretty good self defense gun. It needs to be since I am betting my life on it. I have no experience with Taurus pistols so I can't help you there. Just know this, I would buy another Glock 26 before I buy my first Taurus.

It was a revolver. I don’t recall the model number, their rendition of a J frame. It was chambered in .357 magnum. It would run .38 Special fine, but would lock up on .357’s.
I have a Taurus 605 357 (j frame size). I have shot mags in it, but I don't have a lot of rounds through the handgun....

I've owned a couple of Glocks and like them, but I don't really LIKE them. They work, they hit where I aim them, and all that, but they're just the most boring gun I've ever used.

I sold off all my semi's not too long ago (I'm a revolver guy at heart) except I kept a Taurus G3. The full sized one. It's a lot like a Glock, still sort of boring, but reliable as it can be, I hit where I aim it. It's sort of a Glock from a different mother I guess.

I kept it because I knew I wouldn't get much for it (but then I didn't spend much for it) and because I had a shelf full of 9mm ammo and reloading components for 9mm. Might as well keep a 9mm around I suppose. Might as well be the cheap one.

For MY purposes, the G3 is "just as good" as the Glock. I don't really "like" either of them, but they're both "OK." They work and that's all I ask them to do. I'm not a cop, or a competitive shooter, or a Zombie slayer. I do go to the range about once a week. I should carry that G3 next time. After I clean the dirt dobber nest out of the barrel.

SAR9C......... Just to toss a monkey wrench into the works.......

Ugh. If you want a working manual safety and don't want to buy yet another glock then the taurus g3c is a good pickup, although probably not my first choice. I have a pt111 g2 mill pro and the only issues I've ever had was with running steel case out of some trash aftermarket 15 rd mag. I've had issues with the slide finish allowing rust only after a couple of days. In contrast the taurus gx4 has been the most rust free pistol I've carried (which includes gen2 glock, s&w shield, hk usp compact).

I have a CZ P-10S that fits in a G26 holster, and in my opinion is better than Glock or Taurus. (Just an opinion)
I wish the P-10S mags had that little finger extension the G3c and G2c have.

Dont worry, youll be fishing back out later when you realize your mistake.
I’d leave it there too. 26 is the most worthless one they make IMO

Go to your local library and print it out. You cannot ship a gun from a UPS Store. It has to be from their main location.

Agree and I own multiple. Still chose one over any Taurus though.

See, its all perspective, with a little experience mixed in. :)

Personally, if I could only have one handgun, it would be the 26. Shoots like a full size gun, can have the capacity of a full size gun, and can be carried in many/most of the places where a lot of the other smaller guns, that cant cover what it can cover, can go. Whats not to like? :)

LOL. That version fits perfectly in a Galco Executive shoulder holster and is easily carried like that under a simple shirt. 33 rounds, on demand! :)

And if you're letting anything "dangle" when you shoot them with the 10 rounders in the gun, that's on you, but you're doing it wrong. ;)

My G3 has actually been a pleasant surprise. It feels good in the hand and is a very good shooter. The only knock I give it is the slide finish. Seems like it may not hold up as long as glock, but it is a budget price gun so I expect that. All that matters is if it goes bang when you need it to. Mine does it’s been 100 percent reliable in what few rounds I’ve put through it. If money was a factor and it’s all I could afford I would be happy with it. However, with all that said, I carry a Glock every day. This may rub some people the wrong way but honestly I’d carry a Taurus G series pistol over a sig 365.
