Does anybody know if Glock is going to offer a 4 inch 45 acp in the ilke of the G19 to compete with the XD45? I have the G19 and don't mind carrying the round for sd but even if Glock issued one in 45 with 8 rd mags I would buy one...just cuz I could!

Have you considered the Glock 30? I am a believer. As a born, bred and taught revolver guy..i wanted to hate my Glock 30... But I am 100% amazed and pleased. Check them out.

No. Some of the 'big name' firearms instructors have been asking Gaston to do this for years.

I gather that Glock tried to make the .45 ACP in a G19 sized gun but could not get it to work reliably. Something to do with the .45 ACP cartridge being too long overall.

To my way of thinking, the G 30 IS a G 19 sized gun. It is only slightly smaller in length and height, and a little thicker to accomodate the .45 ACP in a double stack mag., like the 19 has. The G 30 can also use G 21 13 rd mags.

I had my G 30 to the range today and thoroughly enjoyed putting another 150 rds through it of WWB 230 FMJ, and 185 JHP +P Gold Dots. It grouped great at combat distances of 20 - 25 feet. It is a soft shooter compared to other .45 ACP I've fired. I think it is a great compromise as a CCW firearm and will be my primary CCW when my Crossbreed IWB holster arrives. I do not think is is a great bullseye target pistol, but it is the best for me at what it was designed for. Try one and you'll be hooked.

I used to own a G36 and loved it but I had to really pay attention on mag changes cuz, I would pinch my palm upon driving the mag home. The 30 is probably where I am going if not the the 1911 format...although I love my glocks.

The only rap against the G30 has been the "fat" grip. That grip, however, tends to dampen recoil quite effectively--and it's not THAT fat. You adapt to it pretty quickly. Overall, the G30's an exceptional handgun and one of Glock's standouts.

A 4" .45 the same size as a G19 8+1 capacity? They got one, it's called the Glock 38.

I have one and it's incredibly sweet shooting, very nice gun.

The GAP is not the same animal once you go over 185 grain bullets...I have read as much as I can on this cartridge and it can't equal alot of the acp rounds out there....this is no slight on the GAP it serves a niche for smaller handed people but IMHO thats as far as it goes.

Not trying to start a war or anything but you really should try an XD45. The grip angle and trigger are amazing, IMHO!

I would but the grip frame looks so long I know I will have a problem concealing it and I am not a small guy...I find the pointability to be on par with Glocks.

I wanted to like the g36 but after shooting 50 rounds my hand was very sore , I was very disappointed, so now thinking about going to the range and trying the g30....but i am wondering if due to the thickness of the double stack mag well if it will be too thick for ccw?

Try the Glock 30.

Generally, I do not like Glocks, but...I love my Glock 30. As mentioned previously, the only distraction is the "fat" grip, but this is easily overlooked.

I find it hard to argue with something that is about the size of my hand and holds 10 rounds of .45ACP.

While I do not own a Glock 36, I have heard less than flattering things about them in posts here on THR. My only recommendation is to try to find somebody who owns whatever it is you think you might want to get and ask if you can take it out for a trial run.

I thought the Glock G38 was a .45GAP. Is it really any different in size than a G36? Personally, I prefer .45ACP since I don't reload and there's a much wider selection of factory ammo and commercial reloads compared to .45GAP at this point.

I seem to remember the G30 being about the same size as a G19, and the G36 being slightly smaller than both. So, I'm not sure I see the appeal of the G38 (unless it a lot smaller than the G36).

Well the G21 is a 4.6". .625" = 5/8" Whats so magical about 4". But I must agree the XD45 is a fine gun as well. My sons has one and as far as I can tell it's a toss up. I wouldn't turn my hand over for the difference.

I have had my G30 for 3 years. It is my CCW when I need the most concealment. I'm a small guy, 5'6", 130 and it hides on me pretty well. It is also my home defense gun, yep, I trust the G30 that much. I use it for deep concealment and home defense even with the presence of a P229, P2K and USPc.:D
