One of my local firearms dealers has a distributor from whom he can get third generation Glock G19s for $420 with an official Glock case and one high capacity magazine, 15 rounds I believe. It seems like a good deal but I have heard complaints about the accuracy of Glock handguns and I am kind of used to the exellent accuracy of the Sig p239. Do you guys have any opinions on Glock accuracy?

Don't know who you heard that from but I wouldn't trust their word on it. I'm not a big fan of Glocks but they are quite accurate. From the newbies I've seen shoot, they learn quickest on the Glock. Squeeze the trigger and the gun goes bang, nothing else to think or worry about.

If the gun wasn't accurate for whoever said that, the gun must've not been right or he couldn't shoot.

My Glock 30 is my most accurate pistol. I have a 19 that's dead on, too. The sub frames take a little more practice but are very accurate.

Can't understand the "special" deal of only getting one mag. Glocks typically come with either two or three mags.

Black Majik said it....accuracy is a function of the shooter. Some people don't like the grip angle of the Glock and have a hard time adjusting. For others, it's a natural pointer. The only way to know is to try it for yourself. My G21 and G17 are very accurate pistols and some days I can shoot them better than anything else I own.

As far as price, $420 with one magazine is pretty good for a new, 3rd Generation....too high for used. (Third Gen have the molded finger grooves in the grip). You can find Glock mags for around $20 each. The cheapest online dealers are running around $470 with 3 mags -- so you could beat that deal by buying the two extra mags yourself...plus no shipping or transfer fees.

I'd recommend you find a range that rents Glocks and try one out. Just like any handgun, it's a very personal thing.

They are far more accurate than I am for sure.

I can get a new G19 3rd gen with 3 each high capacity mags for $398 from the local Glock distributor. There is a link here somewhere with the distributor prices. I have a copy of it on paper but not the link.

I'm not sure about your "special" deal, although it's not a bad price...just questionable because of only one mag. They come from the factory with two, so something is amiss.

As far as accuracy, that should NEVER be an issue...and I've never heard of accuracy as an issue with Glocks, even from people that HATE Glocks. It might be true that there are more accurate guns, but it's a guarantee the G19 will be able to shoot better than you do.

Personally, I love my G19. It handles very well and is more than accurate enough for me. I wouldn't take it to a long range marksmanship contest, but for an everyday gun, or IDPA type shooting, it's one of the best.

I would not take the deal. A new from the factory Glock 19 should have two 15 round magazines with it. Since it does not, someone has at least opened the package and taken one of the magazines. I would not trust the deal because I would not know what ELSE was going on.

At the gun shows around here, you can get a G19 NIB for around $450 that you KNOW has not been monkeyed with. It would be worth the extra $30 to me for that knowledge.

All pistols are a compromise. The G19 is, IMHO, one of the best compromises out there. It is light weight, compact, accurate, reliable, has a great capacity for its size, durable, and very rust resistant.

For that reason it is one of the favorites out here, especially for CCW.

Glocks are not 'Perfection' but don't let anyone tell you that they aren't VERY good.

I've always heard that Glocks are "inaccurate." I own one. I tend to shoot just fine with it. I'm not a competition shooter. Whether I shoot somebody in the eye or the nose is not a real big deal to me. I figure I've got 17 rounds + 1 in the chamber of chances to shoot some bum burglar. Glocks have been fine to me. I own a few others, and the Glocks are the ones I reach for 90% of the time. My wife will pick these up exclusively. She is not interested in safeties and decocking levers.

I've had many different types of handguns - the Glock design is one of the easiest to achieve hits with right out of the box. If someone isn't hitting with a Glock, it's probably his fault, not the gun's fault. But... it is not for competition target-shooting - the sights are wrong for that.

price isn't bad, but you should be able to get a new one for about that price with the two mags that are shipped with the weapon. i don't consider the case as a freebie - glock doesn't ship 'em in plastic bags...

but overall it's not a bad price for a nib gun. he must be yanking the other mag and selling it, which would be pure greed if true.

btw, i alternate between carrying a glock and a 1911, and when overseas my job issues me a glock - g19 or g17. some people have trouble adjusting to the glock's grip angle (i don't), but that has nothing to do with the inherent accuracy of the weapon. it will shoot and hit where you point. trigger slap, death clutch on the grip or poor sight alignment/stance is the more likely culprit in any missed shots.

Nothing wrong with a Glock's accuracy. In most cases a Glock is going to be far more accurate than the person holding it.

$420 is a pretty good price for a new Glock even if it only comes with one mag. You can buy extra mags for $15-20 a piece. I'd question where the second mag is though. Glocks always come with two mags except for the "blue label" Glocks, which usually come with three.
