I’ve been looking at these since they came out. Glock’s answer to the Sig P365? Roughly the same price range as the P365. I also own a G43. I can get by with the G43 as long as I put a finger extension on the magazine floor plate. At the end of the day the G43 is still almost too small for my large hand. Capacity is 6+1. The P365 is too small for my hand unless I go with the 12 round magazine. All in all I suppose I’m still a Glock fan. I own 13 of them. Can’t argue with the bullet proof reliability of the Glock. The G48 fits my hand nicely and does not require any magazine floor plate extension. Capacity of the G48 is 10+1 which may be an advantage. I say “may” because based on what I have read and been told by those that are knowledgeable, unless you are military or law enforcement, if you haven’t fixed your problem with the first couple of rounds it’s not likely to end well for you. The slide and barrel of the G43 fits the frame of the G48 like a glove and visa versa. Although I’m not so sure I would want to change things around. A slide and barrel that is an inch longer isn’t particularly hard to conceal in my DsSantis Super Fly pocket holster and the longer butt of the G48 feels better to me. That said I’m gonna hold on to the G43 because with some of my slacks the G43 fits my pocket a bit better. So added all up, I would like an opinion on a couple of questions:

Will the G43 and G48 eventually make the G26 obsolete?

Not sure about the new nPVD finish on the slide of the G48. Really an advantage or marketing hype?

Ditto on the new rifling configuration of the G43 & G48. Does anyone see any real advantage here or is this just more marketing hype?

Overall I’m pleased with the G48. Reliable, reasonably accurate and ergonomically satisfying. Just wondering if some of the engineering changes were all that necessary.

No, not ever. The G26 is a much more versatile pistol with numerous magazine capacity option and quite a bit easier to conceal than those Glocks with full size grip like the Glock 43X and 48. The advantage of the 43X and 48 is primarily a full grip with 10 round capacity and being thin for comfort of CCW which should make them a good seller especially in states that have magazine restrictions. I tried the 43X and it is a nice pistol but the trigger reach is too short for me compared to my Glock 19. The Glock 26 will still be a top seller for Glock.

BTW congrats on your new Glock 48.

Thanks!

I too have been looking closely at the 43x/48. I quickly dismiss it since I have a 19,26,and 43. But every time someone else gets one at the department the monkey climbs on my back.

I like the 43 a lot, got one for my daughter. But I like-like the grip and capacity with the 43X.
I'd like to know a year from now which slide/barrel you're using for carry, the 43 or 48.

It will not replace G26.
Not sure the finish is an improvement because Glocks seem to be more oxidation resistant then most.
The rifling is not an improvent because polygonal is easier to clean.
