There are a lot of things you can do to Glock to customize them. I was wondering what you all have done? Are there any upgrades that you would call "Must Haves"? Where did you get the parts?

For my Glock I am looking to get some new recoil springs, SS recoil Rod, 3.5lb trigger, channel insert. So far the best site i can find has been http://www.glockmeister.com/

I saw this book (The Gun Digest Book of the Glock: A Comprehensive Review: Design, History, Use) at my local book store and was wondering if it was any good?

Thanks,

I like the Ghost Rocker connector... sort of adds a shorter reset for the Glock trigger and dropping the pull into the 3.5# connector range... The lighter pull isn't as important to me as the shorter reset.

And the slug plug or whatever you call the thing that goes in the hole in the grip behind the mag.

A front night sight is nice... They pop up on eBay from time to time for very cheap... front sight only for about $25 plus shipping.

put on the dawson adjustables and fiber optic front sight..then send it to Charlie Vaneck for trigger work..1.5# trigger that sets off everything..turnaround is four days including the shipping time..simply awesome..

I really like Heinie sights, very crisp clean sight picture. They're available with tritium also. I've got the big boomer (G-20-10mm), so my needs are a little different than some. I use a tungsten guide rod with a 22 lb. spring that tames recoil nicely. I have a .40S&W conversion barrel for low cost/low recoil plinking. I recomend topglock for ordering. Glockmeister site has more info though. Extra mags and alot of ammo and practice. Mabey a .22lr conversion would be fun, now the make them for large frame (10mm/.45acp) glocks. Which model did you buy?

The only thing that I think is a "must have" on Glocks are different sights. The cheap plastic one that come stock from the factory just suck. I replaced the sights on my G19 with Trijicons and have been very happy with them. While I don't think it's absolutely necessary, I also replaced the plastic factory guide rod with a stainless steel one and installed a factory 3.5# connector, factory extended slide release, and a Jentra plug. Got everything from either Topglock or Glockmeister.

I think you have all the essentials listed for mods except sights. For carrt maybe take a look at Heinie Slant Pros or Straight 8s. I actually find the Glock rear sight adequate, but immediately replace the front. I do my own trigger work.

What Glock? If it is a 9mm how about stick with the stock recoil spring weight. The bigger ones can benefit from a stronger spring. I caution against all the crap in mine like Titanium strikers and reduced power springs if you are going to carry it. My carry Glock uses stock weight springs.

PO2Hammer,

The "channel insert" is just a little plastic plug that fills in the hole in the bottom of the grip.

The only thing that really needs to be done is to replace the front sight. I've never had a rear sight loosen or get damaged.

The channel insert seems like a good idea, and if you want, a metal guide rod doesn't hurt.

How could I forget the sights??? Since this will not be a carry gun I will get some adjustable sights for it. I think someone qasked me which Glock I am looking to get... That would be the 21. I already have a stock 30 which I use for carry (I might end up getting the night sights for that one tho).

Hey, that 21 is a sweet deal. The tungsten or steel guide rods with a heavy spring work wonders on the big boys. Bo-mars are exellent sights also, but they hang off the back about 1/4 inch.

By shooting it with a 1911. ;)

Seriously all I evr did when I had one was replace the sights when the plastic crap flew off at the range.
