I have heard that the MOS will run optics higher than a milled slide. Can anyone confirm this?

If so, will suppressor height sights still be visible through a red dot on an MOS? Will it be like a lower 1/3rd co-witness? How usable will they be?

What do you guys prefer between the two?

Yes, Glock MOS runs adapter plates to adapt the slide mounting holes to the various brands of optics. This puts the optic up about a 1/8" higher than milling.

In my opinion milling the slide provides a greater shooter experience with the optic at the cost of pigeon holing one into a specific pattern of red dot optic base.

I didn't realize how it all worked when I ordered a slide milled natively for RMR and a set of suppressor sights. The iron sights ended blocking too much of the optic. I ended having to set the optic on a raiser plate by Reptilia, which puts it at about the MOS height. I am not certain, however, that native milling is deep enough for stock sights to co-witness. Remember that Glock ships at least 4 heights of sights, distinguished by the little bar stamped into the side.

3rd party.

Glock still hasn't resolved the issue of supplied screws being to long for trijicons.

Ok I Have The Glock 40 MOS. Personaly I Love the Gun. Mounted a Burris Fast Fire 3 On it. Did the mounting myself so No Problems with the screw Lengths. Though I have heard that getting different lengyh screws is no big Deal. Used blue Locktite when I did the Mounting and Have put a lot of rounds thru the gun with no sight Issues. I have also heard that suppresor sights will work fine to Co-Witness.Not a gun I am concerned with co-witness sights any way as I only use it for Fun Shooting and Possibly Hunting. Funny thing I can actualuy line up the front sight with the strait white line on the back of the fastfire site Very easily. And Yes I can see the front sight fine thru the fastfire. I tried it and naturally the Gun shot fairly high but center. But in a defense situation I think I would be fine. Just would aim Low. Like I said I don't use the gun for self defense. But people in Bear country may want that Co-witness.
