Let's say you were looking to get a Glock 20 and planning to have a full grip reduction done on it. Is there any reason to get the SF version? That is, is there anything trigger-reach-wise about the SF model that wouldn't be accomplished as part of the grip reduction?

I'm thinking of just getting a used gen 2 or 3 and sending it in, but I don't mind getting a new(er) SF model if there's something inherently better about it for the small-pawed among us.

You should probably ask the guy who's going to do the grip reduction. There are different ways to do a grip reduction. It may or may not matter, depending on what is done.

Have you handled both side by side? The SF or "slim frame" models are only shorter from the rear of the grip to the trigger. So, yes, it will still make a difference if you do or don't get the grip reduction. By grip reduction, I assume you are going to have it reduced as short as a glock 29 or 30.

"short frame"

and I would say no.

Is the 20SF still to big? its just a bit larger than the G17 grip.

I had a grip reduction done on a G21SF. It really didnt make the grip any smaller or thinner, but it removed the grip hump (which straightened the grip) and gave it a more aggressive grip texture.

If that is what you want to do, then make sure you do some research to see if it is really what you want. I would definitely hold both and compare them before I laid one under the knife.

At the time , i was transitioning between a 1911 and the G21, so the straighter grip was great. Now i am dedicated to the Glock platform, so the grip reduction went from an asset to a hinderance. I sold the G21SF and replaced it with a G21SF RTF2. No problems to report.
