Glock Teases to 4th Gen Pistols for 2010

Maybe I missed a thread elsewhere, but has anyone else seen that Glock is now announcing their 4th Generation of pistols due out in 2010?

Looks like adjustable grips (aka interchangeable backstraps) are coming.

I can only hope that these 4th generation Glocks go over well. So well, in fact, that maybe people will trade their 2nd generation models in for them. Then I will have plenty of 2nd generation models to choose from.

I think the adjustable backstrap will be a big bonus for many folks. I personally like my gen III Glock grips just as they are. However, the majority of the complaints I have heard from people about Glock has been about the grip.

One size does not fit all. Nothing fits me worse than a Glock, I'd look forward to one with a different grip!

I love the RTF frames. The finger grooves are actually smaller. I get a better grip on the frame than with a standard 3rd gen glock. Plus, the texture is much better. No need for a rubber grip.

Hopefully its fast to change out and you could swap it out and let you g/f, wife, brother, sister, mom,dad whoever shoot it at the range more comfortably.

I think the interchangable grip panels will be a big selling point for Glock. I would like to see them make a CCW model that wasn't so 'brickish' in size. A different grip angle would be good as well. I guess it wouldn't be a Glock then would it?

Guess I'll stick to my M&P's. They were engineered for my shooting hand position. We are fortunate to have so many quality handgun choices to make. Everyone should be able to find one that suits their particular needs.

My problem with Glocks has never been the grip itself, though I think that will be a nice feature. I've always had a problem with the grip angle. When I draw and point, the gun is always above target.

Maybe they will all be single stack so they will fit my hand,

and hopefully they keep RTF as an option and dont make it standard. Its OK but Ill take the standard grip thank you.

It certainly is a more aggressive angle than most. It took me a while to get used to it, but now I prefer it. I really like the low slide axis and steep angle for recoil control. But then again, this is really a matter personal taste... thats is the beauty of free-market capitalism. If it did not exist, we would all have to carry the same gun. Or perhaps no gun at all.

I guess they finally listened to almost everyone on the planet who has handled their product. Glocks are great guns no doubt. Ergonomic that is a different story. I think The xd (which I prefer), m&p and other striker fired poly guns are giving them some real competition and forced them to make the change. I wonder if the will increase their magazine capacity as well to regain some of their lost market share.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see what they have developed. I loved my glock until I used an Xd, so I wonder what the new gun will be like.
