Ok..here it goes. Since due to Glock popularity or kool aid effect whatever you call it nevertheless it has become world one of the largest selling pistols.

Thus my funny poll is whether would chose Glock as SD side arm or anything else?

H&K. For a few more $ you can have the looks and durability. Admitted, the Glock is a fine weapon, but the trigger safety, looks and feel are not for everyone. No doubt a test between the two handguns would be a LOOONG test.

got the G21SF. yes cheap, light weight, simple operation, reliable and 13rounds of 45acp should be adequate enough for SD

Glocks are good, however, I prefer sig 226 9mm for a range gun, sig 220 .45 for home defense and walther P99c for ccw.

Sigbear

Since the Glock was introduced, several manufacturers have introduced other polymer wonderguns which have grips that are actually designed with the human hand in mind. Hence, 'No Glock' for me.

The Glock is arguably the most reliable bottom feeder on the market and an overall fine firearm but it just so BUTT UGLY!!!

The G21 fits my hand like a custom gun ~ I'll not own another semi-auto hand gun.

joffy, What sub compacts do you prefer? I may consider another weapon in adition to my G27

Glock

Glock has been the only semi auto pistol I've owned that was inexpensive, utterly reliable with all ammo, extremely low maintenance, easily cleaned, some models are "sized" as well for carry as anything, Light weight, have slimmer grips and higher capacity in 9mm & 40mm than most, conceals very well, most durable finish available, retains a higher percentage of value than most pistols, extremely accurate ( but hard to capitalize on due to trigger), comes with excellent sights, has no weak points. In my opinion, at a very low cost, Glock will put you in the top 1/100 percent of measurable performance in any catagory of any pistol ever made. I love the 1911 platform but have had only one that approached my Glocks for reliability. I have two custom 1911's valued at about $5,000 and I carry a Glock 23. I feel I'm better armed with the Glock, however I shoot the .45's for the trigger and ambiance. Are they better guns? The sad answer is no. I have owned well over a 100 pistols for comparison. The only major brand I can think of I haven't owned is the H&K. I trade around a lot and usually have 4-5 pistols around. In my opinion the Glock 19 & 23 are top of the defensive handgun world even after all these years. They are not just good guns, they are great guns. However, they are ugly plastic guns.

I think Glock's are good guns. Not "great", but "good". However, I will continue to prefer a Sig or HK.

I would have been a Glock junkie if Glock EVER made a handgun that was at all comfortable to hold, or remotely fit my hand.

JMB designs for me!

They're good guns, no doubt, but not the best. I enjoy my Glocks, and they have their place... but there are "better" guns to be had.

I would choose CZ or XD before Glock.I only have a P95 auto now and 4 revolvers but will buy a CZ75b soon and maybe an XD9

I like Glocks, but prefer HKs. They have proven more robust and reliable in my experience.

Blocks don't fit my hand either.

Its 1911 style pistols for me. I also like to have a hammer on my handgun.

I really wanted to like Glock pistols but just don't for a wide variety of reasons that have been hashed over hundreds of times. I don't hold anything against them, they make a decent product but agree for the same money one can find a better product. In my opinion they don't live up to the hype given to them by some of their fans, that is true of lots of products though.

I prefer Sigs and H&K followed by XD.

I got my first and only Glock currently, a G34 for USPSA shoots. It is not a bad pistol. This example jams on me at least once every match. I still can't see why. I am using factory ammo, and the gun is clean. The trigger is not great but the reset is like magic compared to my Sigs and HK's. I might be getting old but I leave the Glock home most of the time in favor of the 1911's. :p

Glock.

An added note. Glock grips fit everyone willing to learn how to grip it. The angle is by design. Not some laughable oversight or error that some want you to believe. The correct grip produces less perceived recoil, less muzzle flip and faster sight acquisition. Course I could be full of crap. :D
