I really like a gold bead front sight, would a small bead that would look the same size as a front bead inset in the rear sight work. It would be similar to the 8 setup seen with tritium sights.

Personally I prefer a silver bead, it seems to contrast against the target better for my eyes - I think a reflective bead on the rear sight (or inset into it) would actually harm the ability to acquire a sight picture - Reflections on the rear sight would be more distracting than anything IMO.

The problem with other metals is they tend to tarnish and have differing reflection patterns.
This is not something I plan to do but just wondered if it would be viable. I have yet to put a gold bead on my S&W 13 so just thinking in text.

Gold bead front sights have been in use for well over 100 years.

I have never seen a rear sight like that though.

If you are looking at the rear sight that close on a handgun or rifle, you are missing a lot of targets.

A gold bead in the rear sight is a step in the wrong direction. What you are doing is trying to engage the conscious mind in a process best left to the subconscious mind.

Dots on the rear sight just confuse the subconscious and forces engaging the conscious to read what it sees as language. This is often referred to as "being distracted" by the rear dots and is sometimes addressed by dimmer lamps (night sights) or smaller dots on the rear blade.

The purpose of the front gold bead/fiber optic/dot should bo to help pick up the front sight faster as you bring the gun up...so that you can align the tops of the front and rear blades
