Looking for a case that would hold an 870 taken down. Ideally something square that could hold the barrel away from the stock and receiver. I don't live in a good neighborhood and would rather not advertise that I have guns, so the idea of a smaller case appeals to me. Does anyone here have any ideas?

Thanks.

A different take on this -

You might consider transporting your guns in a golf bag. You can easily find a used golf bag for practically free. Hollow it out, put a hard case in it, and bingo - a concealable long gun case. Hidden in plain sight.

Or a guitar case may work the same.

Look at musical instrument cases. They come in nearly every size and shape imaginable and people will never assume there is anything but a musical instrument in it. For an 870 a saxophone case would be about right. They're not cheap though unless you find a beat up one in a pawn shop.

Blackhawk....

Blackhawk, www.blackhawk.com offers discreet gun cases in black, coyote brown, OD.
The firm was started by a retired US Navy SEAL. They sell many items but the cases & bags are highly rated.

I bought a soft guitar case when I lived in a tall condo in San Francisco for discrete transport. Folks in the elevator thought I played guitar. I made up enough of a backstory if folks got chatty. It cost $50 or less. Folks at the range had a good chuckle when I showed up,with it.

Yup, I agree with some of the other posters. After I was broken into years ago, I started transporting my guns in a soft sided bass guitar case. The bass case is long enough for your 870 without having to take it down Where a standard size guitar case will be a bit short. Honestly, its the best thing I've found for carrying guns, carries 2 long guns, 2-3 pistols and ammo...even has shoulder straps so I can wear it like a backpack. Think mine was make by Road Runner. And, best part, I've never had anyone ask me what's in the case
