Guy wants $650. Exellent shape. Comes with some other add ons too GGG side saddle, sling, shorter stock

Not looking for a 870 Police vs Express debate.

For this specific gun what do you think of the deal? Id say he has about $1000 in it.

If is set up how you want it at the price you are willing to pay, go for it. Can't really go wrong with an 870P. The add-on accessories don't add much, if any monetary value to me.

Deals are where you find them, and if you like the way this one is accessorized, it's a fair price for the package IMHO. Not a screaming deal, but fair. Accessories for guns are basically giveaways at sale time, and the prices on the P guns have only gone up lately.

Using MSRP on a used gun to justify the price is misleading. Take a certain % off MSRP for street price new, then deduct some more for being used; but if you like it, want it, and it meets your needs and you are willing to pay whatever the price is, then it is priced right.

Nope. Not a good deal at all.

MAYBE a fair deal but it depends on how much you value the add-ons. I personally do not think a used Surefire, GG&G, stock, & sling adds a heck of a lot.

I think that it's a fair price. I have had a 870 Police for a number of years and it mostly stands in the corner of my bedroom.

A fair price, especially if the Surefire Forend is new and not one of the older models.

Try offering 575-600 cash.

Just my .02,

Yes, it could cost you around a $1,000 to set a new one up like that depending on the model and the model of the Surefire. The 618LMG's go for over $400 alone. All depends on the condition of the weapon and no one here can see it but you. As for buying LE trades from auction sites, that is rolling the dice as Department Trades are often the most neglected abused used weapons you can buy. So to go with one that you can hold, break down and look in and even take to the range and fire is the best way to go.

Of course...but you have to start somewhere in determining value. Ive also looked for what the list and sell for new and used on gunbroker.

No idea what shape or how many rounds those have through them.
Summit doesn't sell junk.
I've bought a dozen guns from Summit and have been pleased with their honest description every time.

I got two 870P Parkarized and two 870 blued Wingmaster Police for $189 each a few years ago. The 870P Pararized are tough guns and I routinely see them for $400-500

If you want the Police 870, why ask? Buy it.
If you want a good value, well... you didn't want to debate that.

I find in threads like this people compare the question at hand to what they did ten years ago or to some extremely good deal they lucked up on.

I know this isnt some wild deal. My question was is it a good deal. It seems to be a good deal. I couldnt put this gun together for this price.

If you made a better deal at some point thats great. If you need to run down any other deal to feel good about your previous deal thats another issue.

Thanks. Thats a good source there and I appreciate the specific guidance. If this deal falls through I might get one from where you listed or even get a second one and keep it plain Jane for a backup.

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I'm running an 870 express "tactical" which came with an extended mag tube built in. I upgraded the forend and buttstock with walnut from the police models and put on a limbsaver recoil pad. Then I attached a 4 sevens Maelstrom MMX light with a 1" attachment piece from brownells. Even running this setup would run more than you would be paying for the P model. If the firearm is in good condition and it had the walnut, I would spring for it.

Couple of years back I found an 870 Magnum police trade-in with Speedfeed stock and 20" barrel. I tried to negotiate a better deal on it and the guy told me he can't sell these fast enough, so no deal. Good luck negotiating for your find. Hope it works out. Let's see some pictures.
