The land of the Alamo!
I had to work yesterday afternoon, but had time to attend a local gun show for a while yesterday morning. While there, I was rummaging through a bunch of bargain-priced plastic ammo boxes, and I found several that I bought. While I was looking through them, the proprietor was in the midst of a trade for some stuff with someone a bit over to my left.

At one point I heard them mention some 9mm bullets. I just picked up bits and pieces of the conversation, but when I went to pay for what I had, I asked him if he had any deals on 9mm bullets. He replied that he did indeed. He offered me two 1,000 count bags of 115 gr JHP. When he said he'd take $35 for all of them, I thought maybe I had missed the word "hundred" in the price. When I asked him to repeat, he said "Thirty five for the two thousand." I tried not to be too ecstatic as I reached for my wallet. :D That seemed like a heckuva deal to me, but I guess I won't know for sure until I load some of these bad boys up and give 'em a whirl. (All I've ever previously loaded for 9mm has been 125 gr LRN.)

If they are of quality manufacture you will like the 115 grain JHP. The 9mm X 19 usually love them...They are accurate and an excellent choice for defence...

Fred, when you say that I stole them, are you intimating that I should have been wearing a bandana over my face when I paid for these bullets? :D

I just a moment ago finished loading up 15 rounds each of three different recipes that are using Unique, Bullseye, and HS-6 in them. It will be great to see how these shoot. If one of them happens to shoot really well, I'll probably just stick with that one all the time, though I might do a little tweaking of it...

Until just a few weeks ago, I had no idea that shooting 9mm in a pistol is so much fun! :)

Corner Pocket, you unfortunately fell victim to one of the oldest scams in the book. These bullets are actually defective, mismanufactured seconds, and will probably not even fire in your gun.
Because I am a nice guy, I will generously offer to pay you the $35 back, plus pay for shipping to me, and I will properly dispose of those old bullets.... :D

(PS- got a bridge for sale, too... make it a package deal?)

Oh I just love hearing stories like this!!! I just paid $45.00 for 50 ct box of Barnes 375 cal 255 gr hunting bullets. Damn!!!

I'll bet you a hotdog lunch that the Unique shoots smoothly and accurately. That's a match in heaven for all my 9mm pistols.

And yes, it is customary to wear a mask when you steal like that. Don't buck tradition.

Corner Pocket, I'm going to be very disappointed if you don't report back to us, and that we find you very happy.

Clearly I am attending the wrong gun shows. That is a fantastic deal! And while it is customary to wear a ski-mask or bandanna when making such a deal, I imagine a gun show is just about the last place I would want to walk into with a ski-mask on...;)

I wasn't planning on going to the range for a couple of weeks. However, a friend emailed me about meeting him at the range today. He has a Bersa .380 that I've been wanting to shoot. I'll be happy to do that, and will also see what these 9mm JHP test rounds look like. Will report back after while...

Also, RichardInFlorida, I'm pretty sure that I have a calico bandana in my closet somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it out and take it to the next gun show with me. Heck, one never knows when one needs to "get masked" when a deal comes along... :D

Just returned from the range, and had a whale of a good time! I really liked shooting my buddy's Bersa .380, so much so that there may be one of those out there in the future for me somewhere...

Ants, your prophesy of what I was to encounter with my test loads was right on the money! I had worked up one load using HS-6, another with Bullseye, and the third with Unique. After I shot the test rounds and pondered on the results, Unique was indeed the best load of the three. I may bump it up 2 or 3 tenths of a grain, and see, but just as it is, I'm likin' it!

Ya gotta love a good nine! :D

One more note on this issue -- now that I've shot a couple hundred of these 115 gr JHP bullets powered by Unique, you can be sure that I will swing by and see what that dealer has every time I'm at that gun show. I did indeed get one heck of a deal for $35. ;)

Corner Pocket,
I'm glad those bullets worked out.

So, you didn't like the HS-6 load? I found it to be the best powder for loading 9mm rounds. I especially like HS-6 because it meters well and it's clean. I've loaded 1000's of 115gr jacketed bullets for the 9mm under 6.8gr and 7.0gr of HS-6 with great success.

I was using Longshot which was just as good but I'm trying to get my powder count down to less than a dozen!! LOL

Awesome deal!! I have been looking for a deal on a ton of 9mm jacketed bullets to load up a bunch of the brass I have.

Very jealous here!
