I bought a S&W 442 a couple of weeks ago and I wanted advice about a good holster. I'm considering an Uncle Mike's #3 pocket holster, I've heard good things about them and they're cheap. I would prefer either a pocket holster or an IWB.

I was also wondering what defensive ammo others use in their 38 specials. I'm using Speer Gold Dot 125 gr. +p hollow points right now and they seem to pack a pretty good punch.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Uncle Mikes size 3 pocket holster will fit your 442 perfectly..Speer Gold Dot makes 38 spl+P. 135 grain GDHP ammo specifically for short barrel revolvers, item # 23921..A great self defense round...The 38 spl+P 158 grain Lead Semi Wad Cutter Hollow Point (LSWCHP) is also a good self defense round..

Toadman (or anybody else),

What are the advantages/disadvantages of using wadcutters instead of regular hollowpoints?

DeSantis has the Nemesis pocket holster, and Mika's Pocket Holsters makes some good custom holsters for very reasonable prices. for IWB, it's hard to beat Milt Sparks or Lou Alessi
