Posted in the "Latest cartridge are you're reloading" thread that I was trying out some Blue Dot & BE-86 in my 10mm but would like to find Longshot and Accurate #9.

Haven't seen either on shelves for awhile.

Had some running around to do today and stopped by my LGS not expecting much but, lo and behold, they had both on the shelf!

$33 each so I grabbed 1lb of each.

Even had 4lb jugs of Longshot for $125.

Most everything else was $40+/lb.

Also had nearly every brand and size of primers (still had a limit of 300/day) but the least expensive was $10.99/100!

Funny, when powder was still real scarce, Longshot was everywhere! I hear its great in 10mm but havent tried it yet.

I've used Longshot in .40 S&W with 180 grain XTP with good results. I've also loaded some up in .357 Magnum with 158 grain XTP, but haven't gotten out to the range to try them out yet. The data I was following showed it being relatively close to full power magnum loads without using H110 or a few others.

You're right. Longshot was one of the powders always on the shelf locally.

For that reason, I kept putting off buying any figuring 'it'll be there next time' but, eventually it wasn't there and it took quite awhile to get back in stock.

Looking forward to working on some 10mm with these.

I’m sitting on 7 lbs of Longshot.

Bought it for 12 gauge, 1 1/4-1 3/8 oz loads. But I do have some .40 S&W to load. May give it try. .357 too.

I do know in 12 gauge skeet/trap loads, it’ll heat up a barrel!
I did 7.5 grains in the .40 S&W. Accuracy was pretty good with the 180 grain XTPs in my pistol. I was getting around 1,090 FPS on the chronograph. I think Hodgdon max was around 8.0 grains for that load.

I scored quite a bit of longshot a while back for 460 Rowland and then I found out it was great for 10mm and even 9mm as well. I have no complaints about it.

Yeah, I've been reading about its usefulness in 9mm.

I've got 1k RMR 124 MPR that could use a high performance powder.
I was gonna use BE-86 but I think I'll give Longshot a try too.

Longshot is my favorite Powder for harnessing the full potential of 10mm. There are others, like Blue Dot but Longshot is a smoother ride to the top.
This is a good time to double up on ear protection, if you don't already do so.....

I'll be using my 1006 as my test "vehicle" so I feel comfortable experimenting with some nuclear loads (after carefully working up of course)

I'd also keep an eye on the spent brass, and see how much "guppy belly" is going on so that subsequent loading isn't complicated. I know Glock factory barrels will do this, causing the subsequent glock "smile". I've taken care of this by replacing my Glock 20 and Glock 40 MOS barrels with Lone/Alpha Wolf barrels....The spent brass now comes out nice n straight regardless of the power load.

Definitely be on the lookout.

As I mentioned in a different thread I found a load I liked using Power Pistol and just stopped experimenting.

Not "nuclear" by any means but were max loads according to a couple different sources.

Never had any problems in that regard.

I was, and will be, using virgin Starline as I recently discovered an unopened box of 500 that I forgot I had

I've got a few hundred 180gr XTP's but want to save them for after i settle on a load i like so will be doing my development with the few HAP's I have on hand.

This same Power Pistol load, loaded by my friend for his stock Glock 20, was just starting to show the slightest bulge in his brass.

Definitely not enough to ruin his brass but, in the interest of safety he decided to use them for "lighter" loads; in that role they're still giving him excellent service.

They don't refer to it as Loudshot for nothin'.
