Took possession of it Friday afternoon, and after I took care of some business later in the day I took her home and stripped her down and cleaned her with BreakFree CLP. The fit and finish on that gun is just amazing. I had no experience with Dan Wesson before, but I was VERY impressed. Not sure how it would compare with a Wilson, Baer or Nighthawk, but it's at least every bit the equal of the Kimbers, and it might even be better. However, I did have a slight problem putting it back together -- the plunger tube was as tight as I've ever seen one, at least since the first 1911 I got, the Springfield GI, back in early 2006. I had to get a little allen wrench and push it back in directly to get the slide stop in place. I figure it'll loosen up with time, though.
I also picked up 100 rounds of Remington UMC to run through her and replenish my supply of once-fired brass, and late yesterday morning it was off to the races! I don't know if it was the ammo or the gun, but the chronoed velocity of the UMCs was a little slower than advertised, about 1080-1100 fps. But the gun was very accurate and I had no feeding problems or anything like that, though I was shooting a little to the right at 7 yards. I am wrestling with the idea of getting some Hogue wraparounds for her; the coco bolos look great but they proved to be a tad abrasive. So far, though, I am very, very happy with my purchase. I might just have to get another when I pay off the credit card.
