Pretty much have had a sample of everything the major mfg. have to offer but I'm thinking of something different. Never had a H&K or an FN, other than my High Power.
Don't want anything striker fired, strictly hammer fired DA/SA.
What do my fellow forum members recommend. ;)

Perhaps an HK P30, P2000, HK45, or a USP...

Except for the "new version/old name still) Hi-Power (and that's SAO) and a FN502 Tactical .22 (which is also SAO), there aren't any more hammer fired, DA/SA guns in FN's line-up. The Model 509 is supposedly DA but it's striker fired. The FN 57 has an internal hammer but it's also SAO.

I also say FNX.

I missed out on some good deals on an FNX-40 before they went out of production and sold out a few years ago. I don't have many firearms regerts, but that one bugs me even now.

LGS has one here - Wisconsin Firearms and Transfers

Well, in the new/ old category........
Smith and Wesson M39, Walther P38/ P1, and Beretta M84 come to mind.:)

My old Walther P1 was a fun pistol.
Trigger wasn't the best (truthfully it was pretty bad) but I could run that thing pretty quick and well.

With a pile of mags and almost 30 years experience using the heel mag release on my Ruger MKII I was pretty respectable with mag changes too.

IMO, you are not missing much. No to little aftermarket support, heck even FN's support sucks.

Have you looked at the CZ P07/09 guns, Imo highly underrated.
I'll take my P09 over my fnx 40/9 any day of week.

FNX-45 Tactical. It is a big gun, but it is really nice if you have big hands. Then you will have an excuse to get a .45 suppressor.

I have given many of my most cherished pistols to my four sons, according to their needs, desires and past tract records on stabile environments to curate them . That left an opening for me to try something new in the weirdness since 2019. I can't bring my self since 2021 to invest time and $ in something I could not fight with if it comes to that . Ammo availabilty factors in , but I live near a son who has set up all my Dillion stuff and has gone on fom where I left off 15 years back.
So I bought a used but like new Sig P226 R nitron in .357 Sig and proceeded to install the SRT kit as I had done before in my older German P220 .45 which has languished many years with zero problems and stellar accuracy , because I was a 50 year fanboy of the 1911 format and had even gone into double stack goodness. I soon had the Sig P226 up and running in .357 Sig, which I fell in love with getting 1400+ Fps with 125 Grain Hollowpoints , and.40 S&W which my son and I crank out many reloads for about 5 different pistols, like I used to do for .45acp ! And lastly with a threaded barrel a 9mm conversion unit for my son and mine new suppressors. I started practicing with the P220 and tuned the smooth old German gun to surprisingly beautiful beautiful 8pound DA and 3 pound crisp SA and had Simply Rugged make me up a beautiful combat set up that can take both Sigs .
I have become a Sig fanboy to the point when recently visiting a son who bought a lakeside home in the Reedsport area visiting and going to work for , on a trial basis, GrayGuns the well known Sig specialist . I still have another knee operation and logistics to handle but it looks like I'm going to start seriously on the GrayGuns team the first of next year. They are wonderful people !
Now the funny thing is ; since I had a brief and unhappy fling with the odd P250 9mm ancestor of the P320 series when I lived in Calif about 10 years ago. My son got the thing because to my mind it was another stupid plastic weirdness like the HK VP70Z I had in the early 80s . It was just too weird and cheesy for me to understand the "modular" concept of the firecontrol unit as the registered part, and it shot for me much worse than the Gocks I respected since my first one in 1989. All that was to change in my few weeks working at GrayGuns and I , like the US Services, found the design to be "the 1911 of the New Millenium " . Indeed, working cutomer service, and seeing the gunsmiths work magic on them really I came to admit left even the beloved Sig Legacy guns in the dust for more than a few reasons ! I now am the proud owner of a Sig P320xten ! I chose it as it has most of the bells and whistles I want and my only other 10mm currently is a Glock 20 which my son has claimed as his bear gun for the ones where he lives. I was torn between just buying a fire control Module and putting all Grey gun stuff on it in 9mm . However GrayGuns does not currently make XTEN stuff so I left if in their inventory till I return at the first of the year with instructions to shoot it and use it to develop products if they want . Its hard for me to be anal about polymer guns ! Now the P220,P239 ,P210-5 and P226R are different beasts and as I recover from my my second knee replacement they will be around to fool with when I am able.
So yes, get a Sig P320 (or P365) which are exceptional IMHO and easily customised into fantastic !

I have both an H&K P30SK with the V3 (SA/DA) trigger and the LEM trigger. I've been pleased with both and feel more comfortable with them over a striker fired pistol.

The P30 is the full size version if that size would be your preference.
