I saw some grips on a blued Ruger MKII government model 22 that I had never seen before. They were wood with finger grooves and a thumbrest, smooth texture, had a Ruger medallion and a reddish tint to the color. Beautiful grips but like I said I've never seen these before. Does anyone know anything about these grips and where I might be able to find a pair of them

It was not one of the ones at the Ruger website link you left tlen. They must be something that was available in the past.

I dunno, this looks an awful lot like the grips on my MKII government competition.

Though, in retrospect, the medallion background on my grip and factory mag are black and not red. My factory mags, bought recently, are all red.

Are you sure they had wood, or did you run across my picture:

Or there are custom gripmakers......Randall Fung comes to mind: http://www.jnb.com/~funggrip/ruger.html

BTW, the Ruger disc in my grip was transplanted by me. Those are not Ruger grips, they're VolkswateverT grips.

Hey Tlen......Thanks for posting that page. I had not known that Ruger has both lefthand and righthand thumbrest target style grips available. Glad to see it.

I bought a set of left handed Hogue rubber grips with thumb rest and really like them. Makes it a little difficult for right handers shooting my MKIII678 though..:uhoh: If you are left handed and buy one of the top of the line MKIII models with thumb rest wood grips Ruger will exchange the right handed grips for left handed ones.
