Thought some people might like to see some of the boxes I have built. I used to occasionally sell them at saturday market. That is an artist market here in Portland. I built each box to be used as either a gun box or jewelry box simply by changing the the interior. The lids where hidden pressure release hinges. I made the boxes out of exotic woods then burnt artwork into the tops and painted the design portion of the lids. I would make the gun molds buy pressing the guns into a hard foam like sunstandce. Then I would heat and smooth the surface with a blow torch then coat the mold with felt. Until recently I still used one of them to keep my gun in on the dresser. Then I got the firger touch gun vault I have now. :)

I do not make them anymore. When I did I sold them at the market for between $100-$350 depending on the size, materials and how complex the artwork was...the Evil Queen box was like $350 since it required alot of angles, slopped sides, glue ups, etc. and was a real pain to reproduce it to look like the one in the movie. The 24 was a little pricey too since it was a custom order. The one with the dogs was a fun one. A woman ordered it for her husband who was a clown. Those are his 3 dogs on the lid in clown face. I will occasionally build one for a friends b-day or something. :)
As for locks, they can be made with key locks but I usually did not. I made only 2 with locks because the people had children. It cost them extra because they are not easy to bore out and install. :)
