I threw away almost all my plastic Ruger boxes and most the S&W's. I'm glad that Ruger has gone back to cardboard, at least for some guns but I don't keep them either.
I was walking a gun show looking to sell or trade my Citation. A table guy asked to see, and I showed him the pistol. He made an offer I countered and was turned down. A bit later I was leaning on a wall by a covered trashcan with the gun set on display like below. The same guy that turned down my counteroffer said, "If you told me, you had all the paperwork and box I'd have bought on the spot, come back to my table".
The box and paperwork got me $100 more.
I keep all the boxes/cases no matter what gun it is. I have about 30 in my attic right now. I've even bought a few gun boxes at yard sales for guns I don't even own.
