I've got a good idea for a Ruger M77 Frontier rifle. First off, how do you feel about these? Any experience with them? I already own a compact in 7mm-08 so I'd have no hesitation buying one, just wondering what others think of them. Secondly, how do you feel about the idea of this: adding either a red dot or reflex sight to the front rail? I would think this would be a decent gun for close deer and such. Lastly, what caliber would you get it in of the following: .243, .260, 7mm-08, .308, .300 WSM, or .325 WSM? I think I'd opt for a .308 version of it.

Also, I'm worried about how the reflex sight would stand up against the recoil from a short barreled .308.
Thanks for input!

Fellas, what your talking about is Cooper's "Scout Rifle" idea. Been around for decades. Troed and true idea.

I say go for it. I think you will be very happy with it.
