I listed gun on Armlist and recived message from potential buyer.
We agreed on price and he said he will send me cashier check.
Later I recived that message and I beleve it is fishing going on:

Thanks for getting back to me with the address to mail the payment to , i will start working on getting the payment to you and I will as well be responsible for the shipping fees like I said earlier which would be included in the check as well and also there will be extra funds on the cashier check as to avoid delay i will have my pay check from a contract I executed. It will be mailed to you instead of me to avoid delay in the payment as I do not have any account to issue check from right now, so upon the clearance you will deduct the agreed price + shipping and the extra $75 for securing the arm for me while i will make proper arrangement on how you will get the extra funds on the payment to me. He will mail the cashier check out tomorrow morning or next. Let me know if you do not have any problem with this to avoid further misunderstanding

Send me your cell phone that i can reach you on anytime, for better communication.

Hope to hear from you soon.

What do you think of that?

I canceled deal right away, just want to hear forum's opinion.
Thank you for respond

No, actually buyer sent me real FFL copy, and he mentioned he living in Texas, FFL I check online only looks legit, just address slightly different.

Why doesn't he cash the check and write you one of his own? The "slightly different" address for the FFL doesn't make sense either.

This has all the indications of a scam. I wouldn't touch this deal.

I actually planning to contact that FFL, somehow that "buyer" get copy of that FFL

exact chang e only!

it is a scam. it is a fake check. may pas s muster now but in a few weeks or so--you lose!! the bank will take the cash back from you

exact paytment in cash or from a KNOWN bank or other source. anything can be faked BUT it is harder using known sources I think

the poor ffl guy may not know (or care) about the scammer you are in touch with

run--do not walk

Is it permissible to post FFL dealer name here? I don't have facebook and online info not showing FFL contact email

Contacting the FFL makes sense. I find it odd that he wants the gun sent to a legit FFL but the address is slightly off.... How does the buyer get the gun or is sending the gun a ploy for the extra money?

I think posting the FFL name wouldn't hurt. As long as you aren't saying anything slanderous or mean. It's not like you are naming the FFL as part of they scam. They are just being roped into the situation

Keep in mind that when a bank allows you access to the funds (usually 2 or 3 days) is different from when the check actually clears (up to 10-14 days).

Let's make something clear, I'm not planning to accept any check and deposit it, or send gun. Just message I recived sounded fishy to me and I CANCELED DEAL.

Good idea because there were just too many red flags going on with how convoluted the would-be buyer made of the transaction.

I had another message looks and sound fishy too, so I just took add off from Armlist.

Armslist involves something Besides a Face-to-Face transaction (?). That's news to me.

I've only done/seen FTF deals. Cash is the only way to buy and the buyer handles the item.
People on gun forums wonder why I don't ever do deals involving shipping a gun.

It's not worth the inconvenience, even with cash in hand. Life's too short for that b.s.
I'm only talking about simple, straightforward transaction. Good luck to you shippers.

Was the FFL New York or NC?

The usual way it works is they send you a bogus check for more than the required amount, and ask you to return the change.

The check is pretty good, but turns out to be bogus, but it usually takes more than a week to bounce. He doesn't even want the product- when you get the check, he'd tell you he's stuck in NC, so hold on to the firearm, but send the change soon, as he's run into some unexpected expenses.

That "buyer" did not sent any FFL, just mentioned he will "arrange"

It's probably irrelevant, as the scam doesn't count on you actually shipping the product, but I was just wondering- 347 is an NYC brourgh area code, and the restrictions on the Second Amendment add an interesting wrinkle.
