Does anyone know if it's legal to carry a rifle or shotgun on board a boat? I'm talking about carrying on the ocean but not in international waters. More like 10-15 miles from land - max.

I would guess that one would need to abide by the laws of the state your nearest.

Links?

I think it was in the rifle section somthing like what gun for a boat maybe

What about a gun on army corp. lakes? Specifically lake Texoma.
again consult you local laws. When I lived on my boat In Va even the coastguard had some rules so if your talking about greatlakes and or the oceans check with them too. No point in becoming a felon by accident I prefer to do that on purpose.

When I kept a boat (31' sailboat) on the Chesapeake in Solomons, MD, it was considered as a residence and it was legal to have a gun (S&W .357) on board. Many of the watermen had some sort of long gun. Had a couple of minor encounters with the Coast Guard and MD ER police, informed them of the gun & location on board on the one occasion they wanted to come on board, no problem. They came & went in < 5 min.

IANAL, YMMV, check your state laws.
