Gun ownership (and attitudes about guns) in America

I haven't seen a thing passed by anyone with any significant meaning and people have actually become more gun favorable since the silly riots we had here and the Hammas **** demonstrations after what they pulled in Israel. I'm really not too worried about any significant legislation affecting gun control or gun restrictions in this county.

But it's good that some of you keep whining and moaning about how we are losing more gun rights.....but I just haven't seen it.
Because of bills passed within the last 100 years, I have to disagree. 1934 makes it so you cannot easily buy a machine gun, SBR, SBS, or suppressor. Needs a $200 stamp tax and a 6-12 month background check. 1968 bill no longer allows us to purchase firearms through magazines or any other way without it needing to go through an FFL. 1986 makes it so we can no longer purchase new built machine guns. 1994 makes it so we need a background check to purchase from an FFL.

Why is it that I need to get a permission slip from the Sheriff's department in order to purchase a pistol? Back when I lived in Minnesota, I would've needed the same slip in order to buy an AR, AK, Aug, SCAR, etc. Only bolt action, pump, lever action, single shot and some semi auto rifles did not require a permit to purchase.

It's nice that they can parade out a poll. I agree that the numbers are higher, because a lot don't want to answer.

Now, what would happen if they added one last question...

Q: If the government told you to turn in your guns or go to jail.

What do you think the number would be? I'm guessing 99% of dems, liberals would. Probably 90% of Republicans and others would also.

Seeing how my company went full Nazi, asking fellow employees to turn in others that violate FMLA.

The other question would be about the above. That or just calling a hotline to turn them in.
That's already happened in a number of states and the compliance rates are in single digits.

The current threat is not to gun ownership, but to the types of guns we are allowed to own (for the sake of public safety). A lot of gun owners fall into the category of "I support the Second Amendment but...". I was that guy at one time. I believed that nobody "needs" an AR or AK. Then it occurred to me that it is the Bill of Rights not the Bill of Needs.

Same thing, just the flavor of the month they can get support for, but they are all on the long term “list”, because they want them all and won’t stop until they get them all.

CT passed a law around 2014 requiring “assault weapon” and larger magazine registration of existing holdings.

They estimate only 15% of the holders of these items complied.

I believe most people who vote Democrat will still vote Democratic when it comes to gun rights . The supreme court’s reversal of Roe vs Wade was a loss for the Republican Party . I predict a blue wave in November 24 and this once great countries downfall and a new socialist constitution . There is no way this country can ever be the same with all the millions of illegals entering and then having children born here .

If my phone rings and it's not my wife or daughter I don't answer it. I certainly don't answer for some random number I don't know.

I was watching Jeopardy a week or so ago, Ken Jennings was interviewing the contestants for the second chance tournament.

Almost every single one of them ignored their initial phone call from Jeopardy asking if they wanted to come back on the show. None of them responded until Jeopardy contacted them by text.

I think that's become more and more common in America that people don't answer unsolicited phone calls from anyone. I'm assuming that that's going to have an effect on the pool of respondents that these polsters are able to reach.

I got a phone call from a polster 15 years ago. Before they even asked me the poll questions they asked three or four demographics questions to make sure that I was in their Target demographic that they wanted to pull. I never even got asked any of the actual poll questions.

I question the results of any of those polls that I hear about
