Gun range/Club rates

I pay $175/year for a range associated with a high end rifle manufacture. 7, 25, 50, and 100/200 yard covered outdoor ranges. Open every day sun up to sun down except holidays. Membership includes spouse, minor children, adult children in college or military. The only drawback is paper targets only.

I joined as I planned to leave the club I have belong to for years due to the fuddy rules and culture. It had the feeling that if you are under 80 years of age and own anything that is not a target revolver or bolt action rifle, you are merely tolerated for your membership dues. However, they seem to be turning things around. They recently built a second indoor range for everyone to use (not just select, inner circle members), added steels, relaxed some rules (not safety!), and you can shoot defensive distances. The new blood running the club is an impressive lot.

This one is very well kept and the $127/year membership includes access to the clubhouse. 0-50 yard multi-use indoor and outdoor ranges, 25/50 and 100/200 yard outdoor ranges. Membership includes immediate family and guests are permitted after they sign a waiver. May decide to stay here and let the other one expire.

There are not too many options where I live due to population density, but I am happy with my club.
$200 adult annual renewal (first year is an extra $175)
$75 per child junior member, with an excellent coached junior program (BB / .22lr, unlimited club-provided ammo during meets)
Well-maintained 50' indoor range for airgun, .22lr, and non-magnum centerfire handgun
Well-maintained 25 yard outdoor range for all legal firearms
Steel targets are permitted
No work parties required

I do wish I had the opportunity to shoot 100 yards or further, but it requires over an hour drive and a hefty daily fee for that option around here.

It must be very challenging to be a gun owner and target shooter in the NYC area.

My indoor range is $300-yr. Unlimited use and its about 2.5 miles from home. I go there 2-3x a week.

Outdoor 100 yd rifle/pistol range. I am a limited member so its $120-yr. I can shoot Fri-Sun, but I can’t use the large steel-target bays, 300 yd range, shotgun trap/skeet or rimfire ranges unless I go shoot with full members. There is a 3+ yr wait list plus buy-in and annual dues for full membership. Its about 25 miles each way to this range from home.

There is a pay as you go public range another 10 miles up the road, but I’d rather be at this one.

BLM free-for-all shooting area is about 70 miles each way. It’s free, but you are at the mercy of the others who drove out there for any sense of safety. (Plus crunching through all the glass and debris the trigger-trash haul out, shoot up and leave scattered all over peeves me to no end.)

Shooting isn’t cheap living in the suburbs of a big city, so you gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes. ☹️

Stay safe.

The private range in Martin County raised the fees about 20 years ago to rework the ranges and hire range officers, because of encroachment. They're at $250/year now. This is a 100 yard and 50 yard rifle range, 25 yard pistol range, and a couple of smaller pistol bays.eveything has shade. The $250 covers the range officers, improvements, electricity, and maintenance. The land is owned by the county and leased for a dollar.

Are there any positives? Sounds like you're very unhappy there. Just quit.
I would agree, but maybe it's the only place reasonably close to him. But yeah, $350/year for a single lane 100 yard rifle? No way, Jose. Even a multi-lane 100 yard rifle course would be outrageous. For me, the only challenging rifle to shoot at 100 yards is .22rimfire. When I visit my daughter who lives about 3 hours from me, I can pay $20/hr at a 1000 yard range not too far from her.

In my area, a club membership is almost mandatory unless you have a good shooter-friend who is already a member, and you can go as his guest. There are a few indoor pistol ranges within 35 miles of me, but they are expensive to use and a hassle to drive to. No public rifle ranges in the immediate area, though there are more clubs in neighboring counties and a couple of 1000 yard ranges within an hour or so. There's also a public skeet and trap range about 30 minutes from me that I used to use now and then.

My club range is 15 miles away. The range offers 20 concrete solid benches undercover with target stands at 100 and 200 yards, along with steel gongs at both distances. Also has a covered area with 4 benches at 50 yards. Recently added cover for the handgun area with target boards at 7, 15 and 25 yards. Also has steel plates at 15 and 25 yards and an open shotgun area with 2 clay pigeon throwers. Cost is $100 per year, requires NRA membership for insurance purposes, volunteering at a work party or safety advisor gets you a $20 discount for membership. Range is open to members pretty much 7 days a week, sunup to sundown. Only occasionally closed for maintenance, bench rest matches, or use by local law enforcement for training. Over 600 members, but about 20 to 25 do most of the work…

Local shotgun range, mostly funded by tax revenue from my town and the county. $7 to shoot trap or skeet. RO will inspect each gun to make sure it has no ventilated handguards, pistol grip, optic, detachable magazine, or other prohibited features. No more than two rounds may be in the gun at any time. And even though this is a Constitutional carry state, and it's a government-supported range, they have "no concealed carry allowed" signs everywhere.

Indoor range in next town, about 10 miles away. Nice place. $12 for a lane; good for all day, even if you leave and come back. They have a yearly membership, but I don't go often enough to make it a better deal than just paying the daily rate.

Various clubs scattered about the state, most around $300+ per year with about the same for "joining fees", plus mandatory NRA membership, which is a deal-breaker.

The club I belong to has shotgun area, 50M, 100M, 300M, and 500 yd. Plus a "cowboy town" set up for SASS, but members allowed to use it.

The club has a one time "buy-in" of $200, and an annual fee of $125. The keep their calendar and event schedules up to date on the website. Certain events closes certain ranges. We're allowed up to 5 guest (seems they just increased that from 4 recently) on each visit, but they must remain on the same range as the member.

Must have active membership with the NRA.

I have three ranges I am a member of. Two of them are $25/year, and all that gets me is a quicker sign in at the front desk, since I don't have to fill out the paperwork every time I go there. There is still a range rental fee. The third range is $20/month and that is unlimited no-cost visits. All of the local ranges I'm a member of have pleasant, knowledgeable and professional staff, and the other members seem to be safe shooters. I shake my head when I read some of the stories others share about their local ranges.

I suppose there are shooting clubs around here, but the only ones I know about are skeet, trap and sporting clays clubs.

We also have a free state-owned range, but it's 45 miles away and is only open Spring through Fall, and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If I count the fuel cost to drive out there, it's about the same cost as any of the other ranges I'm a member of.

My club is 15 minutes away and costs $75/year. There are 350 members with a sizeable waiting list. There are numerous pistol and rifle ranges separated by earthen berms, many of them are covered and all have concrete shooting benches. Distances range from 5 yards to over a mile. Lots of stands for paper targets plus dozens of steel gongs and torsos, some with flashing hit indicators. Great place to shoot.

My local indoor range charges $20 an hour to shoot or you can buy a new membership for just under $ 400. After the first year renewal is about $ 250.

Outdoors it's $8. per day and they only have one discount, buy a 10 pack and get one free.

The local archery range charges $10 per day or $ 40 per month. I go there about 2 - 3 times a week so, my membership is well worth it.

Private club that went up to $60 a year for geezers, $85 for everyone else. 5 pistol bays with a cover and bench at each. 15 bench covered rifle range reaching to 250 yards, and a 2 station shotgun range. You can take 2 guests with you. There is annual clean up day which I skip. I pick up quite a bit of trash with every trip I make and figure that is enough. I suppose they still have meetings but haven't been notified of one in years. It the only game here except for a recently opened indoor range and I have no idea of it's cost or amenities.

It cost me 20 bucks a trip last year as I was only able to make 3 trips early in the year. Membership renews on the first day of the year for everyone. I will wait to renew this year.

Right now it’s 15min away. I will be moving in the spring/summer and it will make it 40min plus. Next best one with 25, 50, 100, 200, 300 yard rifles ranges, trap and skeet fields, steel target pistol course is 35-40min but when i move it will be well over an hour.

My outdoor club range only costs $110 with a $50 initiation fee & everyone under 65 needs to put in a work day to keep the weeds cut & trash picked up. If we don't put in a work day we are charged an additional $75 per year.
Our range is the largest range in the area we host many competitions & the local law enforcement training. We have many shooting bays from 50 to 500 yards, a fishing lake, a large club house where we host many education activitys like hunter education classes, or gun safety classes. We have personal protection classes available from many teachers.
Many of the members own full auto & have a few full auto competitions so the berms are able to handle that type of activity.

Only you can decide if the cost, convenience and rules are worth the aggravation(years worth it appears). It wouldn't be for me, but I don't live(never have) where you pay to shoot. Good luck. As a side note, I was shocked to hear what alot folks have to do to shoot.

Your club sounds a lot like mine, although we don't allow automatic weapons, nor .50BMG chambered guns, due to berm damage. We host CMP rifle matches and have fun competitions like egg shoots. Our pistol matches are limited to bullseye and PPC style. I wish we had shooting bays so we could do IDPA and USPSA type shooting. We offer Hunter safety classes and some other educational shooting education. While not on a lake, a river borders three side of our property and there is fishing available there, as well as canoeing .

Private gun club, $145 per year, seniors $100 per year. 100 yd outdoor range, 50 ft indoor range.

I belong to a gun club new members $300.00 +$100.00 initiation first year then $300.00 thereafter. Seniors $100.00 if you work 2 or more maintenance days you get $25.00 off your membership. We have 10 different ranges nothing fancy for a clubhouse or RSO station but we have a lot of disciplines for pistol, rifle, long range and others.
