Gun related art

In the fridge actually. Well....it was. Currently in the first stages of digestion. Any chance you could want maybe a salad tomorrow night? I'd hate to sue THR for making me fat.

I can do that, but I have to draw the line there. No tofu or sprouts of any kind.

No arguments here. Tried tofu once. Girl I was dating wanted me to try it. Figured what the heck. So I did. Spit that crap out and ordered a 18oz ribeye. Medium rare. We aren't dating any longer.

Here are some of the pieces I have up around the house. I also have vintage shell boxes displayed which I would consider art, but it wasn't exactly what this post was about.

This last one is a painting my mother did years ago of my father on a little spot we used to hunt. The last time I drove by the windmill was still there but the shed had fallen down. Dad would have been carrying a Sweet Sixteen A5 at that time.

Winchester deer camp and your mom's painting surpass the rest by far. That last one really is something! If your mother is still alive, then she is to be commended for such a rendering.

That sure qualifies as art....... It's excellent and I guess it would come under "American Sporting Art"....... I don't have any real art except some of the gun related stuff that I've framed over the years. Some of the earlier posts requested it so back by popular demand is the first one. A 1995 ad from Shotgun News placed by Kimber when they were sporterizing some of the many Swedish Mausers that were being imported back then. I saved the ad & framed it because I got one in 1995 and still have it today and the only changes over the years have been an aftermarket trigger and the cheap Ram-Line stock that Kimber was using on them IMG_1731.JPG was replaced with a Bell & Carlson synthetic with an aluminum bedding block. I'll post some of the others when I get a chance.

IMG_1734.JPG Here's a Ruger ad from about 2006ish (?) IIRC......... Promoting their Mod 77 Mk. II target rifles. Got one of these also and it only cost me the price of a few raffle tickets back in 1997. It's the only firearm I ever won and God knows I've probably purchased enough gun raffle tickets to buy several nice rifles over the years. Mine's in .25-06 which is something that was on my wish list since about the early 1970's . Bought the raffle tickets at a gun show where the rifle was on display and I was almost drooling on it. Couldn't believe it a month or so later when I got a call saying I was the first prize winner. Took that rifle to Wyoming in 2003 and shot my first, (doe tag) and second (nice buck) antelopes with it. That rifle will probably turn up for sale at my estate sale. DCP00840.JPG

IMG_1736.JPG Here's today's post. Old full color advertisement possibly from the 1970's or 80's? Harrington & Richardson Model 676 Convertible revolver featuring two cylinders; one for 22 LR and one for 22 Mag.. Picked up a 4.5" example (just like the one in the big picture on the ad) in mint shape a couple years ago with both cylinders, owners manual, and original box. Then I googled around for H&R 676 stuff and found someone selling gun advertising material that had this ad for about fifteen bucks IIRC. Anyone know what years the 676 was produced? I haven't got around to researching that question yet.

J-Bar,

Those are really cool! Who was the Hondo sketch artist?

Mongo does beautiful CAD renderings and photos of incredibly rare weaponry, like FG42s. I believe he also runs or is affiliated with the xrayguns.com site, which has umpteen jillions of quality black & white xray prints for sale (also etched acrylics I see, which could be really cool if lit from the sides or rear with LEDs). Sadly, the price is rather high for these prints, but having seen them in person, I can at least vouch for the quality.

Thank you.

Bill Decker is the signature on the bottom. I do not know him. I found this for sale in a little family restaurant in Kansas City. I think I paid $20 for it! It was already framed but appears to be the original ink, maybe a one-off from a local artist I'm thinking.
