'Gun Show Loophole' Compromise Is Rejected

Before 1988 all private sales of pistols in Indiana had to be conducted through a dealer. The law was rarely followed and a utter and complete failure.

Maybe so, but I betcha the liberals were tickled.

The principle of the "loophole" is asinine on its face if you are at all familar with gun shows and those in attendance. If an individual who cannot legally own a firearm wants to get one, rarely does he go to a gunshow. It is much easier to answer a private ad, go to a friend who owns guns, or steal one. Why go to a crowded show that has cops at the door and try to find a private seller? I, personally do not see many non-FFLs at shows any more. Maybe I'm just acustomed to the gun friendly South. :D

Edwards is going to make it as bad as California where we have to take everything to a dealer. I'm glad he's in third place.

That soon very well may be Attorney General Edwards.

As reported here:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Illinois Democrats close to Sen. Barack Obama are quietly passing the word that John Edwards would be named attorney general in an Obama administration.
Since we all now know Edwards' attitude toward private firearm sales, as AG he could simply have the ATF rules changed since ATF is a bureau of the Department of Justice.

Obama wants to ban most everything, which would be far worse than California. And he's nearly the frontrunner.

True. That's why many gun owners will either not vote or vote for someone who isn't electable.

I'm thinking of voting for Bugs Bunny to send a message. I haven't figured out what the message is yet.

When the vote came up for this loophole crap in Oregun McCain gave his full weight and support to get it passed in our state. Yes, he isn't from here and his advertisements in support of this helped get it passed.

two different Edwards here

John Edwards, the brat out of carolina is the presidential candidate.

John Edwards of virginny is a different guy.

Close the Flea Market Loophole!

Oh, the shame! Did you know that citizens regularly set up card tables at church bazaars and flea markets to sell excess items they own? And when they do so, they never collect sales tax? Just think of the lost revenue to the state!
It's time to close the flea market loophole! Act now to be sure every personal sale of used merchandise generates sales tax revenue.

Close the flea market loophole!

Do Alan Keyes, or Ron Paul, or someone. Bugs Bunny doesn't tell the people much about who you would vote for, and so continues the farce. Voting for a real person tells them what you want, and they might be smart enough to give it to you after you vote for their "reform".

The true man of the Left does not care what you do as long as it is compulsory.

Compulsory?!?!?! Now thats a bit more dangerous than I like. Why if I followed
my compulsions.....

I agree, but if you insist on a cartoon character, I'd suggest Ralph Wiggum.

I hear he supports law enforcement. ;)

If private sales, not conducted through a dealer, are bad at a gun show, they're bad in the parking lot. If they're bad in the parking lot, they're bad around the corner. If they're bad around the corner, they're bad at your house. No more private sales, and to ensure it, registration and licensing of every gun in America.

Sen. John S. Edwards (D-Roanoke) voted against a bill last week that would have required most sellers at gun shows to conduct background checks on buyers.

So what is the point if it's only "most"? All of the ones that don't fall under "most" will be the ones doing it for nefarious purposes, so why bother in the first place? So what happens if they do ever enact this country wide? All guns become registered, and crimninals can't get their hands on them, right? Oh wait, then we will start seeing more breakins, robberies, and murders just so they can get their hands on the precious guns that they used to actually buy legally.

This is all a little hard for me to wrap my itty brain about though, since I was raised in CA. I still don't actually believe that you can just buy a gun from someone. I mean, there should be WAY more murders in every state except mine, which has none.
