Before 1988 all private sales of pistols in Indiana had to be conducted through a dealer. The law was rarely followed and a utter and complete failure.
Maybe so, but I betcha the liberals were tickled.
The principle of the "loophole" is asinine on its face if you are at all familar with gun shows and those in attendance. If an individual who cannot legally own a firearm wants to get one, rarely does he go to a gunshow. It is much easier to answer a private ad, go to a friend who owns guns, or steal one. Why go to a crowded show that has cops at the door and try to find a private seller? I, personally do not see many non-FFLs at shows any more. Maybe I'm just acustomed to the gun friendly South.
