So, I'm not having much luck finding the few things that I want. Specifically 2 Sig556 SWATs and a Kahr MK40 Elite.

There is one store in South Miami that has 2 Sig556 SWATs, but:

1) They're the old version without the folder hinge (and the guy wants to charge $289 to add the hinge per gun).
2) Aside from the $289 mod price to mod the gun into the current factory-stock design, his price is beyond high. I put it best in a recent thread when I said:

The one guy that has the Sigs is charging an arm, leg, right eyeball (including the optic nerve), spleen, my girlfriend, first born child, and the rubber band ball I've been working on since I was 5 years old on top of a large wad of cash that would make Bernie Madoff blush for them - and that's if he gives you a discount.

Anyways, I recently went to the Dayton Hamvention and as per some recommendations here, I called almost every gun store there and visited a few of them. I found 2 Sig556 SWATs, and the price was actually not that far off of what I'd expect to pay, but they were the old version, and more importantly, it seemed they had been abused by too many customers looking as at least one of the two I found looked used rather than NIB on the outside. Nobody in Dayton had a Kahr MK40 Elite. I came back with lots of radio gear, but didn't buy any guns.

Then there's another company out of Texas that was recommended to me and I'm talking to them. They won't be able to get back to me until Wednesday though regarding if they can get what I want.

So, in the meantime, here's where I'm at. I've decided that I am willing to drive to any Gun store in Orlando or in any area of Florida that is south of Orlando such as Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland, Cape Coral, Naples, the Florida keys, etc. if they have what I am looking for. I'd like to get this stuff before I move to Minnesota in less than 1 month now because it's easier to purchase in Florida than in Minnesota. It's legal in Minnesota to purchase too, but I'd be delayed a bit as I'd have to get a MN driver's license, satisfy the conditions for residency, and get a Minnesota purchase permit before I could get these items there.

So, to our South Florida members, I need shop names and if possible phone numbers and/or website addresses.

Again - any gun store south of Orlando, whether southeast, southwest, directly south, or even in Orlando is fine. I've settled on this distance limit because it's what I think I could reasonably drive in the morning, make a purchase, and drive back home all in one day without speeding and arriving home before dinner time.

I've called many of the stores in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, but maybe there are a few I don't know of. Feel free to throw names of stores in those areas into this thread too.

Thanks. I'm guessing I'm not going to find this stuff in South Florida and that I'll end up ordering through an out-of-state store, but I figure I'd give this a shot before giving up on finding this stuff locally.

I live up in Orlando- I would try East Orange Shooting Sports- I saw the Sig in there not to long ago- and the owners don't let many people fondle guns for giggles. You have to be some what legit....

Thats the only shop in town I like- Shoot Straight are a bunch of tools.

Any objections to trying online? I know people like to give Gunbroker the shaft, but sometimes you can find decent deals and it obviously broadens your search area to nationwide.

Then all you'd need to do is find a good local FFL holding agent and you'd be all set. Buying from out of state, the savings in tax offset shipping and FFL fees to a degree. As pointed out in one of the replies avove, GB also has a good list of FFL holders and transfer fees.

I'm in the Tampa area myself...had a similar battle looking for something slightly rare...ended up going the GB route in the end (twice) - actually was very painless, much less so than the scouring of the central florida area I'd done the month previously. Good luck!

When I was looking for the Sig 556 I found at the time that CDNN had great deals on them. Of course that was just after I purchased one for hundreds more at the local shop!

Check with Florida Gun Exchange in Port Orange - they had them also when I was looking.

Nope. I'm already talking to one online shop based in Texas as per THR recommendations.

As for Florida Gun Exchange, I spoke to them today. They have 1 Sig556 SWAT for $1,999.95. 5 cents below MSRP. lol

That's about what I expect these days, but it's still funny. Technically I guess it is a discount.

I am waiting to hear back from the Texas store tomorrow before I tell Florida Gun Exchange whether or not I'll purchase it this weekend at the Palm Beach Gun Show.

We'll see. I probably will b/c I think the online shop only has 1 too. So 1 = 1 = 2 which is how many I want.

The Kahr MK40 Elite is elusive still though. The only few I've found online were used. None new in stock anywhere I've seen.

I'm going to go to the gun show this weekend and see, but I think I'll be mainly looking for an MK40 Elite, unless I see somebody with the Sig rifles at a reasonable price.

The more I think about the Sigs and how the prices are so high right now, the more I think it would be a good idea to buy from an out of state dealer, so that at least if I'm going to pay a higher price, I won't have to pay sales tax on it helping to equalize things a little.

Anybody other than SportingArms.com that I might want to consider for out of state online dealers?

there's a gun show in West Palm Beach this weekend. Probably your best bet. Best selection I have seen is Shoot Straight Florida, but they are up in Orlando.

That's the show I'm going to hit this weekend. I think it's the last gun show down in the area that I'll be able to go to b/c I'll be gone by the time the next one rolls around.

I can think of two places that I used to go to when I lived in Miami. One is Miami Police supply and it was on sw 8th street. The other place was called Big Al's and it was in Ft. Lauderdale. I have not been to either in a few years, but they at one time were reasonable. Good luck.

I am in SW Florida and usually just hit up the gun shows for new toys, but to the best of my understanding Shoot Straight is the largest gun purveyor in Florida. The link is their locations sheet. When I have called them in the past all stores listed have been extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Good luck buddy.

Already checked both. I'm going to call Shoot Straight when they open in a half hour.

Buy online I lived in S.Florida for 12 years unable to find a dealer with good pricing and service. I don't have a problem paying a little more at my local dealer but across the the board I couldn't find a decent store to deal with. When they die they won't have to dig holes they can just screw them in.

Yeah. I think that's what I'm going to end up doing anyways because at least I won't have to pay tax.

Try Lou's Police supplies in Hialeah. Thats where most officers get there stuff from in S. Florida. I was there a few weeks ago and they actually had stuff in stock. You might want to shoot yourself when you see the prices. But believe it or not they have some of the best prices in the area. I saw someone looking at the Sig. on at the counter.

Tried both the old location and new location for Lou's weeks ago.

I've bought from Lou's before. I stopped because I realized that they actually don't have as great prices as I thought originally. As for the SWAT, they wanted over MSRP and told me that if I didn't buy theirs, I'd have to wait over a year to get one or some jazz. I was immediately reminded why I don't buy from them anymore. lol

Anyways, I just ordered everything I want online at reasonable prices. Under $4,500 for all 3 items including shipping and FFL transfer fees locally. Not going to beat that price. I might have to wait a few months for the Kahr, but I should get the first Sig within a week or so and the second one within hopefully a month. I'm not in any huge rush anyways for the most part. After thinking about it and reading a lot online, I don't think there will be any AWB for quite some time. Obama and congress have way too much to deal with before they can get to stuff to do when they're bored and want to entertain their pet ideas.
