I will be in Orlando, Florida this weekend. I'll be staying near Universal and going to the Hamcation (ham radio convention).

Any good gun stores Orlando residents can recommend? I'm looking for good selection and/or good prices.

I wouldn't mind picking up 20 Glock 22 mags while I'm up there if I can find them at $22 a piece or below (what I normally pay).

.cheese.,

Avoid Shoot Straight (Casselberry and Apopka areas) at all costs. They regularly price their guns well above ($200+) MSRP and their customer service is absolutely deplorable.

There is a Bass Pro off of International Drive not too far from you. Also, if you are willing to drive a little bit, there are a number of decent shops in that general area, including East Orange Shooting Sports, Oak Ridge Gun Club and the like.

Here's a map with most of the gun shops in the area. I believe it also has addresses and phone numbers, which should save you some time.

ETA: All American speaks the truth. I know you will probably be carrying anyway, but in case you haven't given it any consideration, please do. Especially if you happen to wander over toward Orange Blossom Trail or surrounding areas.

+1 to Guitar God.

I'm assuming you are living in Florida as a Florida resident and such. Well, here in Central Florida, Orlando in particular, gun prices are <expletive deleted>. Each store is running so high on prices that they've given me garbage for having guns transfered in, usually have to find ones they don't sell.

If you are hanging around I-drive, then be extra careful, a lot of folks get robbed. Hope you are staying in a decent hotel. I-drive has a lot of poor housing that has bred a great deal of criminal activity for nearly twenty years.

East Orange is okay, a bit of a drive from I-drive for my tastes. You'd be better off shopping online for your needs on mags in my opinion.

Drive the fifty miles to Melbourne and check out a little place called Action Gun and Outfitters on Aurora Road. It's a small shop but their prices can't be beat. As for the mags you're looking for, I couldn't tell you if they have them or not. They do have a decent indoor range, though.

+1 for packing around this place. Especially on the tourist areas.

+1 on avoiding Shoot Straight.

The dealers around here don't give good deals for the most part. I buy most everything from Bud's Gun Shop online. There is only one FFL in my area that will transfer from him.

If you have occasion to hit the east coast there are 2 shops on Merritt Island one is Gun Site run by a gentleman named Steve, it's a small shop with an indoor range and the prices are real good. You can also rent a full auto Uzi if you want to have some fun. The other one is B&H the prices are decent on most stuff and real good on Glock trade ins. A lot of the local police stations trade in their old Glocks to him and they are priced right. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately Shoot Straight is the only one I know with a large selection. As has been stated, their prices are rediculous. If you're just going to window shop, Shoot Straight would be the place.

I know of several others around but the selections are very small.

For window shopping I'd agree. If you were going to buy a gun, I'd recommend East Orange Shooting Sports. (My opinion of them has gotten even better over the past year, and I've bought several guns from them and intend to make any other buys with them.)

On my last visit to Florida I visited Bass Pro Outdoor World. I haven't been left stunned by many stores before but this place, coming from the UK, was incredible.

Very friendly staff who must have curious Brits in everyday but still took the time to have a chat and when it became obvious that I knew a bit more than the average UK tourist they allowed me to examine some of the more exotic stuff like the FN FiveSeven. I spent about three hours in the place before the Mrs grabbed me by the ear and dragged me out....we still went back again before the end of the vacation. Absolutely brilliant store.

You chaps don't know how lucky you are.

Take an hour ride up to the Daytona Area, check out the speedway & got to the Florida Gun Exchange.

Great Selection, Great Prices. They did not rape people on AR's & AK's after the election.

Sure prices on those items are up a little now, but that is becasue their replacement cost has gone up for the guns they just got in.

Gun prices did not change after the election untill they had to replace their inventory.

Current price are very reasonable considering the market.
